Tiger Fork Washington Reviews from The Last Year

This place was a 10 in every aspect!! The service, the food, the drinks were all amazingly great!! Reservations are highly recommended. We are at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed talking with the bar tenders, who were very helpful with guiding us through the menu. The calamari was light and delicious! My Mother ordered the Fried Rice with lobster and she was extremely happy with how flavorful it was. I ordered the beef chow fun, which was tender and full of flavor as well. For desert we chose the Monkey King Bread, which was very good. I highly recommend this spot, which is a little tricky to find, but worth every single minute to get there!!
Like finding a hidden treasure
Wonderful experience. Great service and all recommendations from the waiter were right on the mark. Pork belly wraps were crispy and outstanding. Peruvian chef in a Chinese kitchen and Nathan’s Lane drinks were both superb. Place is off the beaten path down an alley with no particular signage but worth the hunt. What a treasure to find.
I wont be back again.
Over rated and over priced for nothing. There bunch of other restaurants that make better food. Don't understand the hype! We have the duck and pancakes, pork belly, and dumplings.
Great dinner.
The Pork Chili Wontons, and Spare Ribs were awesome! Cool bar and good drinks too. Works for any occasion.
Not impressed.
The pork was super dry and i did not like the chicken Dan Dan . The beef chow fun was be far the best dish but so flavorful, it was borderline too much. The brisket was really good in it though.
This is/has been one of my favorite restaurants in DC, but
This is/has been one of my favorite restaurants in DC, but I was a bit disappointed with my most recent visit and the menu changes since I was last here. My two favorite items have been the Dan Dan noodles and the Mapo Tofu, both which I was very sad to see are no longer on the menu. This time, we got the cucumber salad (my favorite thing we had and also an OG fav), & the calamari which was good but wouldn't get it again. For entrees, we got the mushroom noodles dish and the Maine lobster fried rice. Both were good, but neither were amazing in my opinion. We'll be back to try some different items eventually, but would loooove to see our favorites return to the menu.
Ordered takeout which can be a gamble with noodle dishes.
Thankfully my concerns were for naught because the Beef Chow Fun was delicious. The noodles were just the right level of doneness, giving the perfect amount of chew and bounce. The beef was well seasoned and tender. The cucumber came lukewarm which wasn't very tasty. Once it was chilled, I paired it with white rice and it was a hit! Be forewarned that this has a punch. If you only like a bit of spice or stick to the American level of spice when you eat at ethnic restaurants, this might be a bit much for you. And finally, the chili wontons. These weren't spicy at all but they were still damn good. The ginger adds a fresh kick and every bite is satisfying. I highly recommend this place and hopefully I'll be able to eat in person next time.
A good higher-end Chinese restaurant in Shaw.
I recently went to Tiger Fork for a weekend dinner with two friends and was initially confused on where to find it, as the restaurant has no clear signage. Luckily it was still light outside or I would have had some difficulty finding Tiger Fork. I would only go during the daytime, as Blagden Alley is poorly lit at night, with a strong likelihood of seeing rats. Additionally, Blagden Alley is hard for ride shares to navigate, so I recommend planning accordingly if you plan on taking such a method. My friends and I were seated immediately upon our arrival at our reservation time and received good service throughout. Tiger Fork has a Chinese-themed ambiance, with the brick walls making the restaurant feel darker than it is. Tiger Fork recommends sharing dishes and my friends and I took this excellent advice. The food was good but nothing unique or spectacular. We shared the following dishes: Mushroom and Broccoli Dumplings: Dumplings were steamed very well, otherwise nondescript. Fried Tofu and Baby Bok Choy: A very good dish although a bit salty. A great balance of rice, tofu, egg, and vegetables. Sesame Noodles: The noodles were well-cooked and a good ratio of vegetables, noodles, and tofu. Roasted Mixed Mushroom: My favorite dish of the evening. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious and not salty, and the mushrooms provided good umami. Duck: The duck was cooked medium-rare, Tiger Fork provided plenty of pancakes, and the vegetables were cooked properly. A good dish although a bit pricey at $38 for the portion size. Tiger Fork is pricey even when sharing dishes, although the portion sizes are somewhat generous for sharable dishes. Additionally, Tiger Fork Charges a 4% service charge on top of their menu prices which does not include tip, another example of a restaurant following the frustrating DC trend of confusing customers with hard-to-understand fees. While I'm glad I tried Tiger Fork, I would recommend Chang Chang or The Queen's English instead if you are looking for higher-end Chinese/Hong Kong cuisine in DC.
TLDR; good cocktails, hit or miss on food.
I hadn't been to Tiger Fork in years but decided to try it out again this week and was a bit disappointed. We ordered the cucumber salad, the spicy dumpling, the brisket chow mein, and two of the main dishes (yes, we eat a lot). The dumplings were probably my favorite, but I also liked the cucumbers. The two main dishes were oddly exactly the same except for the protein. I've never once seen that at a restaurant and wish the waiter had pointed this out, since it was like ordering the same dish twice. Compared to my previous experiences here, the dishes were less interesting than I remembered. It is fairly easy to get a reservation though, and the service was good. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but would tag along if friends wanted to check it out.

Travels from Rhode Island to go to DC was recommended by a local bartender hidden jam down in alley excellent amazing ridiculous food a must try don't give up trying to find it. It's very difficult to find staff bartender and service was exquisite.
Meals were all excellent.
Wait staff were great. Had two issues and Manager -Jake, personally corrected them and turned the whole evening around making it a very enjoyable experience. An attribute the 20 somethings in the service industry would greatly benefit from.

While, visiting Washington DC I wanted to find a place to bring my grandchildren for our last night. I wanted to show them a unique restaurant. This was definitely the place for the unique and delicious part of the restaurant. The website said that the food was served family style. I assumed that would mean that families would fit in. First of all the restaurant is nearly hidden in the back of the Blagdon alley. But it's a really cool alley with lots of cool spots! The restaurant posted of several Michelin stars and the food was great. I would not say it's a place to bring children. However, our waiter/bartender, Jack, never let on that it was probably not the best place for children and he served up Shirley Temples along with my cocktails. We had the last duck serving of the night some fried rice and several appetizers. I did not know what the Jah Leung was but Jack recommended it; it was so good. We ordered a second one. The fried rice had pork and shrimp. I'm allergic to shrimp, so I was just going to avoid it. However, Jack said no problem they would add the shrimp on the side. I would go back again there in a heartbeat, but not with children. It's definitely a happening place for adults in downtown. Washington DC. It was loud and crowded and absolutely a great experience. if you're in the area, I highly recommend at least a cocktail and some Jah Leung.

I still think this place slides under the radar for modernized Asian food. I went here for Chinese new year celebrations and sat at the bar. It was so fun and I really loved the lion dance. The menu wasn't as extensive as I had remembered - still very good though. Wish there were more choices.

Tiger Fork is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a lively and cozy ambiance that sets the perfect tone for the evening. Let's talk about the food - the fish bao buns are simply incredible. Bursting with flavor and expertly crafted, they're a true standout on the menu. And paired with their fantastic cocktails, it's a match made in heaven. Speaking of cocktails, Tiger Fork doesn't disappoint in that department either. Each drink is carefully crafted and deliciously satisfying, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to your dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I can't recommend Tiger Fork enough.

Such a cool restaurant with excellent food! The crispy pork belly was amazing, fantastic texture. And I loved the green dipping sauce. The skin was on the salty side, but that was tempered by the sauce. I also loved the brisket chow fun. It was extremely flavorful with an excellent touch of umami. I'll definitely be back, probably for their excellent happy hour! The cocktails looked amazing.

Tucked away in Blagden Alley, this place was packed and our reservation was at 10 pm which is a testament to how popular it is. The decor was fun and the food was yummy! For how small the menu was, there were a decent amount of vegetarian options which I appreciated. We got the roasted mixed mushroom chow fun which was delicious! We also got the fried tofu and bok choy fried rice which lacked a bit of flavor but was still good.

Last night my partner and I dined here to celebrate his birthday and the experience was *mostly* fantastic. We didn't have a reservation but luckily the manager, I think, was able to get us a table. The food and drinks were delicious, had a great atmosphere, service was exceptional. However, we did have a less than professional encounter with the hostess as we were leaving which is why I'm writing this review in the first place. We opened the door and noticed it was raining, stood there for a minute to decide what to do, and then stepped back inside. We looked at at the hostess and she had her arms crossed (I guess because of the breeze, fair) but she was making a "shooing" motion. We said "Sorry?" And she said "Just leave!" and because we thought we heard her incorrectly, again asked "Excuse me?" to which she said "JUST LEAVE" again, with the shooing motion, and then walked away from the hostess stand to stand up against the wall with an angry look on her face. We considered asking for a manager but ended up leaving because we felt unwelcome at that point, and honestly kinda shocked. It was just a bit bizarre. Like I said, overall the experience was really great and I would be open to going back. I've just never had anything like that happen to me before, especially at an upscale restaurant... and it was still bothering me today.
Great for sharing plates with a few people.
Inside had a really cool industrial vibe mixed with Chinese decor - felt kinda hipster. Our favorite dish was the Peach Pork Moo Shu.

We came here on a Wednesday evening and it was bumping! It was my first time dining in Tiger Fork and my partner's first time in the restaurant, though they ordered previously during COVID. We loved our time here. Our service was great, with a super friendly and attentive staff. The cocktails were unique and also not sweet, which we loved. The Bird Market and Peruvian Chef were standouts. Food wise, hands down the wontons and dumplings were amazing starters. The beef brisket was equally incredible. We are looking forward to making this a regular spot in our restaurant rotation.
This place was packed and I have no idea why.
Service was passable, but the food and drinks were really lacking in flavor and execution. My dining companion and I both thought we might have had COVID for a second it was so bland! We each had a signature cocktail - hers was the mezcal with various ingredients that ended up tasting like almost nothing. I had a gin drink with a large number of herbs, which just ended up tasting like baby aspirin. We started with the cucumber salad, which was tasty enough, but nothing to write home about. The mushroom chow fun, though, was greasy and flavorless - we had to ask for soy just to make the noodles taste like something. And then the duck ... It took forever (but we were given a comped drink for the delay). After such a long wait, we thought we were getting a full duck, but it was just a breast. The fat wasn't properly rendered, but it was a decent medium rare. It has very little flavor and was in a hoisin sauce that hadn't been reduced properly, so it came out bitter. The pancakes served with the duck were inexplicably cut in half. All in all, a pretty forgettable experience and I wouldn't go back.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
