Lychee Martini was super yum & so was the eel roll, want to go back to try the specialty rolls but a little on the pricier side.
Be the first to ReplyI never had the food so can't speak to that.
But the seating area outside is heated and cutely decorated. The lychee martini was so good but the matcha drink had a weird taste of only tequila and an aftertaste of matcha.
Be the first to ReplyWent for the $7 Happy Hour Menu at Tokyo Pearl with friends
Went for the $7 Happy Hour Menu at Tokyo Pearl with friends and had a wide variety of their food/drink. We sat in their booth which was incredibly colorful and decked out with cherry blossoms and comfortable seating. As for the food, it felt quite mid-tier for a Japanese restaurant in the city. I started off with a miso soup then moved on to the edamame with sea salt, and Japanese Dirty Tots. All selections tasted okay - nothing particularly good enough to write home about. When it came to the rolls, my friends and I ordered the Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, and California. While it was fresh, again, it was just alright in terms of flavor. Despite the food, I found the drink menu to be far more enticing. We started off with the Tokyo Pearl Punch, Lychee Martinis, and then finished with the Espresso Martinis (one of the best I've had!). I particularly enjoyed how the Espresso was creamy and semi-sweet, just as I enjoy in my typical coffee order. If you visit, the Lychee and Espresso Martinis are worth a try. The service was speedy and picked up throughout the evening. Overall, a fun place to check out in Dupont. I'd be interested to see what it's like during the nighttime!
Be the first to ReplyThe happy hour has everything for $7.
Different drinks, apps, sushi, and all things. I got 2 sushi rolls, seaweed salad and three drinks. The service was good and the server was attentive. The other employees were always filling our water. It had flowers hanging from the ceiling and aesthetic backdrops. I would definitely go again.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a cute spot for happy hour and a great vibe.
Beautiful picturesque flowers for cute IG pics. The food was priced well for Happy Hour and was decent. The service was a little slow but overall made for a good time.
Be the first to ReplyFood very very mediocre.
Service was friendly though. Atmosphere was ruined with multiple TVs showing Fox News propaganda.

Me and my friends came for night life in dc, we witnessed the person checking for ID's charging certain people and then letting people go in free...I heard extra charges etc. I find that extremely discriminatory and unacceptable. Had us cash up him directly... disappointed!!!

Great spot for happy hour drinks! Ambiance is super cool and chairs very comfy. Lychee martini 9$ and $7 tuna. Vibe: deep house music which gives off club vibes. wish they played normal music They have TVs which is nice not many places do - can watch sports etc

Toko Pearl was cool, we went on a Sunday night, we got sushi it was really good, it was hot/humid in the restaurant/patio area but the waiter was dope, got us drinks and etc, I would go back, but it turns into a lounge after a certain time I believe.

Two stars feels pretty generous after our experience, but $7 happy hour is a good deal. We went on a Saturday around 5pm, as their happy hour is until 7pm. We were seated without a reservation, and someone came to take our order within 20 minutes. Well... then we proceeded to wait 45 minutes for just our first drink, and other 30 for our second. I even reminded our waiter we ordered drinks, long after they brought our food and we had finished eating. When they did come, the drinks were decent and strong, especially or $7. The food was yummy, but nothing unexpected. Had to wait another 35 minutes for our check after I had asked for it twice. Bottomline: prepare to wait a LONG time for drinks and service. Most likely will not be back.

Went out for a girls night with a group of 6 and the apps, sushi/small plates, and dessert were all delish! However, our service was not the best - our waitress had some interesting responses to the questions we asked about the menu and the seating (outdoors) was not comfortable for more than a party of 4. Overall cute vibes and good food!!

Horrible experience, don't even bother making aReservation they won't seat you, giving 2 stars because I guess the guy felt bad for me and my friend and just seated us at a bigger table (like a table for 10) because we were upset. Food took forever, not a relaxing place. I wouldn't come here unless you come when they just opened or something, why is my server also the bartender

Really nice happy hour prices, which we fully ate off of aside from the bao buns. Looks like it would be a. It too pricy for me to eat of the regular menu, but a happy hour that goes until 7 and is Tuesday through Sunday is pretty good!Ambiance was really cute and upbeat which elevated the experience.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is not worth the try.
After ordering appetizers and sushi, and paying $100. It sucked portions were extremely SMALL. TRUST ME. Supper small. Do not come here if you are hungry. Overpriced food.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful happy hour prices and beautiful venue.
We tried their signature cocktail and loved it.
Be the first to ReplyI was sexually assaulted at this bar last night.
I told the manager and she ignored me and walked away. They did not care. Don't go here, it's not safe for women.
Be the first to ReplyTo anyone considering giving this place your money
To anyone considering giving this place your money (especially any non-white women), please take a second to read this. Earlier this evening, this restaurant was holding a Christmas-themed party and dividing their two bathrooms bw patrons of the restaurant (where I was dining) and this catered party. They were allowing restaurant patrons access to the bathrooms earlier - decision that was made by management. After exiting the bathroom, three white women kicked my foot and attempted to trip me, yelling expletives expressing their annoyance at the rule. When I confronted them they yelled "keep walking you stupid ****h". I immediately told our waiter who laughed at the incident. I later attempt to tell the hostess who also shrugged the incident off. Also had some qualms with the quality of the food. Not only is the tuna imitation, the sushi rice is melted, and the drinks are sugary and watered down. Regardless of this unfortunate incident, I very much feel like you can make you own drinks and sushi for less.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible.
This place didn't even bother to check in on us and took an hour for food to come out.

I went here on a Saturday evening around 5 and sat at the bar. I ordered off the happy hour and enjoyed the Tokyo punch, it's basically a rum punch! I also ordered the dirty tots and they were good as well.

There's no feeling worse than being made to feel like an inconvenience when you are just trying to spend your money. My party of five went to Tokyo pearl on Aug. 2 to enjoy the happy hour and ended up leaving with sips of water and a nasty attitude from management. When we entered the restaurant - the front was empty no host, no bar, no nothing but the door was open and music was playing. My guest and I stood around for a few minutes before breaking off to find a server. When we finally found a server - she let us know that she will be sending a server our way. She brought 4 cups of water and never returned with straws or a 5th water. After about 15-20 minutes our primary server came to take our order - no apology for the fact that we had been sitting in a sticky booth for 30 minutes without being acknowledged, at this time we requested for the second time a 5th water as well as straws. For a solid 20 minutes, no one came back - not to let us know our food was put in, not to let people know things were going to be late, not for water for everyone at the table, and not for the straws. The evening started to get even worse than waiting 45 minutes for a paper straw and water. There was a "server/food runner" aside from our primary server ( She later revealed herself to be a manager but did not announce themselves as such) who came to our table multiple times. Not once did she announce herself as a manager or even as a part of the staff or acknowledge the fact that my group and I had been sitting there for 40-50 minutes waiting for a paper straw and the fifth water for a party of 5. No food yet. We had just barely gotten our drinks when once again the unannounced manager come to our table and dropped off 5 drinks with no napkins. No food on the table. Just 5 upset folks and not a word was spoken. She then proceeded to just take the menus. No are "you done with this" no "hi", just snatched the menus off our table just shorty after me and a member of my group tried to address the primary server respectfully and privately. When we asked for the menus back - she just laughed and threw them down muttering that we already ordered. At no point did we curse, or try to show malice in the primary server's way because she was just oversat and lacking support from her managers and service staff- very clearly. Quite frankly we were throwing "please and thank you"s everyone's way until the end because my group was content just hanging out in the mosquito and bug-infested booth. Our food and drinks finally arrived after an hour of not even being asked if we were okay - the "short rib" happy hour special was 1 stick of 3-4 pieces of segmented meat shoved on it, and all the sushi came touching on the same plate; even the cucumber roll that was ordered separately for a vegan member of our party. The unannounced manager was putting food down on our table without saying a word to a single soul. When one of my party tried to ask why the short rib only came with one piece of meat for $7 the "manager" laughed and only offered to just take it back - this crossed the line for my whole table as we sat there for over an hour with no water after speaking to 3 separate servers. In the time we had been there we watched their 'kettle one' alcohol rep come in with 3 folks. They were able to be serviced, receive AND take their shots, paid their bills, and walked out before my table even had napkins and water. The "manager" then wanted to argue over a $7 piece of meat after not announcing herself or trying to address my table as humans. Finally, after sitting there for over an hour my table requested a manager, this was when the woman who had been dropping off food without saying a word and snatching menus revealed that she was the manager. And when one of our guests asked to not have their food come out the newly revealed manager started to laugh and let us know that it was within her right to ask us to leave. I have never been so floored and disgusted and made to feel like my money was worthless as I have in this restaurant - the manager offered no apology to me or my group outside of laughing until I let her know I was recording the situation. Only then did she have the decency to apologize to half of my party. I will be contacting both the health department and the BBB because I am disgusted and humiliated that I even stepped foot in Tokyo pearl.
Be the first to ReplyI was excited about this spot because of the decor and it
I was excited about this spot because of the decor and it was as pretty as I thought it would be. Florals everywhere and comfy hanging chairs to sit in as you ate. It was very upbeat and lively and had a decent amount of people dining. I didn't check out the lounge/club area but I could hear the music and customers. We ate light and did the happy hour menu, which had $7 drinks and food and lasted from 4pm-7pm, which is longer than lots of happy hour spots. We ordered the Yuzu Margarita and Tokyo Pearl Punch for drinks and had the Shrimp Tempura, Boneless Pork Short Rib, Salmon and Avocado, and Seaweed Salad. We also had a Fried Chicken Bao Bun and a Pork Short Rib Bao Bun, which were $5 each. The drinks were delicious, with the Yuzu having a more lemony flavor and the Tokyo Pearl being a bit more fruity and summery. I personally liked the Tokyo Pearl more (9/10) but the Yuzu was refreshing as I love Yuzu (8/10). The Shrimp Tempura was standard and came with 6 pieces, which were fairly big. It was easy to get through and was fairly light. Overall, a 7/10.The Salmon and Avocado roll was decent and came with 6 pieces as well. I liked it even though I'm not a fan of salmon. It wasn't fishy and cold the way some salmon rolls are and we enjoyed it. It was around a 7/10 as well. I enjoyed the Seaweed Salad, which wasn't fishy and really hit the spot. It was a decent size and was around a 7/10. The Boneless Pork Short Rib was disappointing in terms of size. We didn't expect a huge portion but it was literally a single skewer for $7, which was pricey and not worth it. The pork was yummy but the portion wasn't. It was a 5/10, mainly for value. The Bao Buns were yummy and well made. The pork was my favorite as the meat was tender and so moist and flavorful. It was an 8/10 for me. The Fried Chicken was just as good and had that crispier taste, and was also an 8/10 for me. Overall, this is a cute spot that's great for hangouts and photo ops. It's worth popping by if you're in the area.

VERY SUSPICIOUS PLACE!! DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bouncer told us to come in because women get free drinks. That should've been a red flag from the start but we ignored and went inside. My friend ordered a drink and immediately felt sick. My other friend who took a large sip of the drink also felt very sick. The drink was delivered straight from the bartender to my friend and she drink it right on the spot. We left immediately after they realized something bad was in the drink.DO NOT GO HERE
Be the first to ReplyThe bouncer fully seemed to be making up the rules
The bouncer fully seemed to be making up the rules regarding a cover charge. My friends and I went to Tokyo Peal last night but one of my friends and I had a quick smoke before going in. Less than 10 minutes later I tried to enter and the bouncer said it would be a $10 cover charge for men when all of our other friends went in just moments ago for free. And it was around 10:45 so it's not like the hour had changed. If you are going to charge a cover for some and not for others, at least make the rules clear, otherwise it just felt like I was singled out. None of us will be returning.
Be the first to ReplyReally love this place.
Think it is incredible particularly because of the expanded real estate options they have taking over a portion of the sidewalk. But here's something I noticed they could take this from a three star to a five star. How come they have an excellent DC based DJ who's playing incredible music but everyone outside on the sidewalk cannot listen because they're listening to mediocre jazz? They should allow the music being played inside on the dance floor to permeate out into the sidewalk portion of the restaurant.
