One of Disney's best places to drink outside the resort.
This restaurant/tiki bar is open to the public without needing a reservation to the park. What you will need is a reservation to the restaurant. If you plan to go you can make it on the Disney app in advanced for the day you want to go. The style of food here is a Hawaiian. They have tiki drinks and a good variety of other cocktails. I got the BBQ ribs plate but preferred the poke. Food could be better and the variety of menu items for food could be improved. The service here was friendly and the waiter was able to provide great service for our big group. The highlight of dining here not only is that its Disneyland but the overall atmosphere transport you elsewhere. From the tiki torches when they light up to the audible splashes of water nearby from the pool. I always feel like I am on an island vacation when I come here.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love Tiki bars?! Was in town visiting for my one of my best friend's bachelorette and this was #1 on her list of things of wanting to do. And we had to make it happen! This tiki bar is located inside the Disneyland Resort, and you can get to it through Downtown Disney, which is what we did. They do reservations inside for only about 4 people at a time, so instead we walked up and just asked to be added to the waitlist, since we had 6 people with us. They sat us outside, but our bride really wanted to go inside, so I went back up to the host stand and asked if we could be added to the waitlist for inside. They said about an hour and a half. It's really nice because they have a text message system that will text you when your table is ready, so you don't have to hang around, but you do have ten minutes to report to the host stand before you lose your table. Outside, we enjoyed the beautiful patio on such a wonderful night. I ordered the Mai Tai, and of course I wanted it in the cute souvenir cup because I am who I am. Otherwise, they just serve it to you in a regular glass, which is not as fun. The drink was really good and delicious! I loved it. To eat, I ordered the poke bowl, and it was soooo good that I ate the entire thing. They had live music playing and a Hawaiian dancer. It was beautiful and tropical and for a moment I felt like I was actually in Hawaii on a beach somewhere. Such an amazing experience. Disney really knows how to do that! We finally got our table inside (which is 21+) and were able to be seated together which was so nice. Inside is smaller, but SO cool! Not really what I was expecting at all! If you order certain drinks (like the shipwreck), the employees do some fun stuff... I don't wanna give it away! The staff here is amazing and honestly so accommodating. If you love tiki drinks, definitely recommend this place for an incredible experience.
Be the first to ReplyCute spot and such a fun place to hang out.
Came here on a Wednesday night. No reservations so we did have to wait about 30 minutes to sit at the bar. The bartenders were upbeat and were in high spirits. Ordered the piranha. Way too sweet for my liking but were strong! As soon as we got to the bar, one of the guests had bought a round of shots! Good start to the night! One star off because we did have to wait a while and one of the bartenders forgot one of our orders.

Jordan is the best bartender you could ask for! such a nice guy. We only eat on the inside when he is there.
Be the first to ReplyA must do when staying at the Disneyland Resort! The wait
A must do when staying at the Disneyland Resort! The wait for an inside table is worth it - the vibe and decor surprises are so much fun and really make the experience. My kids loved it too! Highly recommend the crispy green beans as a little snack with your drinks!
Be the first to ReplyThis place has such a great vibe! I would definitely
This place has such a great vibe! I would definitely recommend trying to get a seat inside because every once in a while they do a little special skit for you! If you can get a reservation online definitely do it because this place is very popular and the wait can be a while. The drinks are very delicious, just a little upsetting there are no prices next to them. The tiki tiki tiki rum was 18 and the safari swizzle was 17. Our waitress also let us know safari swizzle was one of the stronger drinks on the menu. The pu pu platter was a great sharing appetizer for two I just wish it came with something else besides the Mac. The only downside is they do not validate for downtown Disney parking because they technically are not part of downtown Disney!
Be the first to ReplyWe're big fans of the fun beverages at Trader Sam's.
We also love that they have a togo window so you can get your beverage and walk around the hotel. Sitting in their outdoor patio area transports you to Hawaii with the live music and slow breeze. The food was okay. My favorite thing on the menu was the French fries. Our server, Karissa was nice and frequented our table to check on us. Only star off was for the disjointed wait after we got a text that our table was ready. We waited another 10 minutes to finally be seated. Just text us when the table is actually ready.
Be the first to ReplyTrader Sam's was one of those places I was afraid of would
Trader Sam's was one of those places I was afraid of would be too gimmicky and have decent food with ok cocktails... to my delight... they were more than what I expected. The vibe if this place was just so much fun... I enjoyed every little bit from its tiki theme to all the humor and lore behind the restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation... lol we didn't,but I think we got lucky because it was raining and they were not very busy. They told us it would be an hour and 30 buuut it really was only 30 min. But again .. it was raining, lol. The service was amazing.fun, humorous, and an experience. They have these moments where they shout and announce a drink or events, and it's so much fun. Our host was sweet and full of character I could not stop wanting cocktails.... their cups are sooooo worth it. lol, they are so unique.and the drinks were actually really good. As for the food, the dumpling and the wings were delicious... I preferred the wings, but you could not go wrong. Me and my partner got the burger, and it was delicious, but I do wish they would offer a med rare option.... it seems they only cook it one way, and it could have used a little more salt and pepper on the pattie. One of my friends got the Romen and loved it, and the broth was delicious!!! Overall, the experience was amazing... I loved the theme and service. ALSO if your a pass holder... you do get a discount. Just don't be rude like your owed something.... I've met some entitled pass holders..... if you're one just stay away lol See ya again trader sam!!!

Love the vibe inside and out and good food and drinks! The seating outside by the fireplace is nice as well! Would absolutely continue to visit and recommend this place to others. The Cast Members are always so welcoming and happy too!

I really enjoy visiting Trader Sam's whenever I am at Disneyland. I have been coming to this bar for many years and have seen the various improvements that have been made to enhance the experience due to its ever-growing popularity. There is now a full bar on the patio that serves the same food and drinks. This helps make service much faster! When I first started coming here, there were only a handful of select items available on the food menu, such as pizza and burgers. But, when I visited last night, I noticed that they have added more dishes such as gyozas, poke bowls, and ramen. When I am able to get seating inside, I love ordering anything that triggers the interactive parts of the inside bar, such as the Shipwreck on the Rocks, Oh-oa!, and Krakatoa Punch. I would not recommend coming during peak hours because wait times can be upwards of 2 hours.
Be the first to ReplyThis was our favorite place for so long.
We loved telling people about it and taking new people there. Such a bummer how everything is changing with Disney budget cuts. Most of the reviews and photos are outdated now. Everything changed in March 2023. -Food is now served on plastic plates with plastic utensils like a snack bar.-The live music is gone. They got rid of all the musicians to save money. Crazy. You would think they would at least have music on the weekends or even just shorter hours. Nope. No music at all. So sad. Used to be such a great place. It's crazy to think that the new hotel opens in September, but they are lowering the quality of the restaurant right next door. Hopefully they can fix this.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my gf and I's 4th time at the Tiki Bar and it
This was my gf and I's 4th time at the Tiki Bar and it didn't go too well. The previous times yielded long wait times for drinks. Again, the wait time for our drinks was a long time. The wait time for our food was even longer! My gf and I saw tables that ordered after us being served before us. As we got there later in the night, we didn't complain to the server that our food was not even luke warm. It was cold! We still ate the food because we were hungry and didn't want to wait any longer for a replacement. Carol was our server and she did great, however the team didn't seem to communicate well in regards to our food!!
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is so much fun.
My friend dragged me and honestly I didn't think it would be worth the two hour quoted wait. Somehow we were called within 10 minutes. We loved how each drink had a dedicated skit!
Be the first to ReplySuper cool interior.
Great theming. Super tropical vibe. Price for value, not so much. If you are going to charge me $30 for a drink, I would hope to be tipsy at least.
Be the first to ReplyKungaloosh!!! We've been coming to Trader Sam's Enchanted
Kungaloosh!!! We've been coming to Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar for the past six years or so now, and I can't believe I've never left a review of one of my favorite tiki bars!Trader Sam's is an amalgam of various mid century tiki bars (Trader Vic's, Tiki Ti's, Don The Beachcomber, etc.), but turned up to "da max"!!!The drinks are well-concocted, flavorful, and some offer souvenir mugs for purchase at an additional cost. The food is somewhat hit or miss. Some days, it's good. Some days, it's bad. Take for example: the Hawaiian Platter. A few weeks ago, I had the Hawaiian Platter and it was delicious: the meat was tender and thoroughly marinated. Last week, I ordered the Hawaiian Platter expecting the same experience, but it fell short: the meat was tough and it looked like they threw a dollop of teriyaki sauce on the short rib before sending it off to our table. The service is great as the bartenders and servers are most attentive. Orders are brought out promptly, and this should be expected since guests have a strictly-enforced 90-minute time limit to experience all that Trader Sam's has to offer! The real reason to visit, at least for us, is the ambiance, especially inside the bar (not the outside patio area). Disney's imagineers did a fantastic job decorating the interior as befitting any ride in the park! From animatronics of a ship in a bottle (when a Shipwreck drink is ordered) to a window view of an erupting volcano (when an Uh-oa bowl is ordered), Disney spared no expense in making this bar interactive! There are even certain stools that provide "shrinkage" if one doesn't notice! The bar is littered with Easter eggs galore of Jungle Cruise, Temple of the Forbidden Eye, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Up memorabilia, that adorn the walls and shelves! Outside and during the evenings, patrons are usually treated to live entertainment of a duo of singing musicians strumming guitars to Hawaiian music. Last October, we were treated to their version of "999 Happy Haunts", which resulted in a standing ovation of everyone in the patio area!Despite the shortcoming of food quality inconsistencies, we always thoroughly enjoy our frequent visits to Trader Sam's!So visit Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar, order your drink of choice, raise your glass, and toast, "Kungaloosh!!!"
Be the first to ReplyNever again! What a disappointment, I've been going here
Never again! What a disappointment, I've been going here since opening until Covid hit, it is an empty shell of what it used to be.First they tried to sit us on the patio, what's the point of going to a tiki bar only to sit outside by a pool of screaming kids without any tiki bar ambiance.Second, after asking for a table INSIDE we find out that almost none of the attractions of the "enchanted tiki bar" are functional, basically it's just the bartenders yelling and someone flicking the lights on and off.. when I asked my waitress about the singing faces on the poles and the drummers over the bar she told me with a straight face "no, none of that does anything. The eyes move on some of them and the volcano erupts but that's it"Third, EVERYTHING is served on cheap plastic plates with plastic utensils. Come on Disney do better, this is how you're going to serve $20+ a person meals of a themed restaurant??The final straw to this "magical" day was being told that my almost $300 lunch didn't qualify for validated parking because I parked in the wrong Disney owned parking lot!! Only Hotel parking qualifies, downtown Disney parking NOPE that'll be another $24!Sadly this will be the last time I visit this rotting carcass of what used to be a really fun and exciting experience.

The ambiance is extraordinarily fun and the drinks are especially spirited. This is a fun fun fun place. We were disappointed to arrive and find out that there would be no warmed entrees, because of a gas problem. We received no email or app notification prior to arrival, sadly. I mean... we would have come for the drinks anyway, but we were SO hungry. Salads were tasty enough, but we have eaten here previously and been happier. All in all, a very enjoyable stop.
Be the first to ReplyWe walked in around 10pm to grab a drink and special mug.
Not disappointed. The drink is delicious. We'll for sure come back for their food.
Be the first to ReplyI come here quite often.
Most times I am not happy with the service but the atmosphere keeps me coming back. This time was different. When we got here the only table available was one right when you walk in. Many servers walked by and said nothing to our table. I finally got up to walk to the outside bar. Upon getting there i realized the bar was full. I was looking for a spot to squeeze in and NIkki approached us. She started telling us how we may not be able to get in because there was so many people. We started chatting and before i knew it we had her as our server and jumped without hesitation to help us. She is the most fun and amazing server i have ever had. I come here at least 20 times a year and she is by far the BEST server in this place. If you come here ask for Nikki she is fantastic!

The coolest place, fun and service with integrity and consistency, awesome drinks! Great crowd. Can't say enough about Trader Sam's except I wish I could hang out more often.

Amazing drinks! Low key spot which I love! Service is great and environment is amazing.
Be the first to ReplyThe drinks are definitely the spotlight of this experience
The drinks are definitely the spotlight of this experience from a taste standpoint. While we both got nonalcoholic beverages, they were still very enjoyable. The ambience though is why you're really there. Getting to hear everyone yell about a mountain erupting and hearing the bartenders' commentary is such fun. Would not recommend the teriyaki chicken at all. The sides were fine but the chicken itself was almost inedible for my taste. Overpriced too as to be expected from Disney. Don't come her looking for good cheap eats, but do come if you're looking for a fun time with light entertainment and good drinks.

We normally come here at least once a week but we have noticed over the past two months every time The fries are cold and the food is cold hamburger is always cold I always have to send it back Please fix this problem and we weren't treated the friendliest either
Be the first to ReplyI've been to Trader Sam's a couple of times and have always
I've been to Trader Sam's a couple of times and have always had a good time. Cocktails are fun, tropical, and made well by the bartenders. Service can be a bit slow, but understandable as there can be large parties and it overlaps with Tangaroa Terrace. Trader Sam's is reservations only so if you don't make one ahead of time, then be prepared to wait awhile. Highly recommend getting a table indoors as the bar has a fun kitschy tiki theme with that Disney magic. Also, make sure to get a Dole Whip with a rum floater. It's not listed on the menu, but the bartenders can make it for you!The food is not so good, which is the reason for the 3 stars. I've tried the Fried Long Beans, the Ahi Poke, and the Chicken Hawaiian Plate. The food was just ok, nothing special about the food. Not terrible, but not good either...unremarkable.Overall, Trader Sam's is a fun place to unwind with some friends and have a cocktail or 2 after a long day at the Parks or Downtown Disney. Come for the cocktails, skip the food.

I had a nice birthday celebration at Trader Sam's this past February! The staff was so kind and made me feel special with a delicious surprise desert. I had the Hawaiian plate with this amazing teriyaki chicken and rice with a delicious mai tai followed by a Kona beer. It was the perfect place to wind down after a long day of Disney. I almost don't want to share this well kept secret!
