Not blown away (except by the price - ouch!)
I don’t often write reviews but feel compelled to do so. As various other people have said, the staff are fantastic the space is beautiful but the food is only so so and comes with a hefty price tag. We’ve eaten at lots of Michelin stared restaurants both in the UK and overseas and just didn’t feel that Trivet has the usual wow factor. There were none of the usual bonus dishes (included to showcase the chef’s skills) or palate cleansers, portions are small (even by fine dining standards), lots of the more affordable wines were out of stock and everything felt like it was around 25% overpriced (starters are c£30 and mains c£50). We’re happy to spend money on good food and wine but unfortunately came away with a resounding sense of “was that it?”. I had the scallops and venison and although nice, the scallops are slightly overwhelmed by the orange peel that accompanies them and £55 is extortionate for what is essentially 2 small pieces of venison and a few turnips. The highlight for me was the pistachio gelato, which was delicious but a shame that that so easily stole the show. Perfectly pleasant but won’t be back.
Be the first to ReplyWhy did i wait so long to go ????
I have wanted to eat here for a while and just not got round to it , i now feel very cheated as i have been missing out on some truly amazing food !!! We took friends and all Four of us had different things so we could really see what the food was like , i had Sweetbreads to start and if i had to eat one meal for the rest of my days , that would be high on my list . Great staff , perfect food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. This will be the first of many visits.

Beautiful spacious private dining area. Friendly and polite staff. Attention to detail. Individual preordered menu on the table. Very nice touch just in case you forgot what you had ordered. The restaurant is absolutely clean. The restroom also clean and proper hand cloths. The food is absolutely out of this world! Love it! Love it! Every course was made to perfection! Tasty and well presented. Thank you.
Be the first to ReplyWas okay but expected much better
Restaurant decor was great, staff were super friendly and the service was impeccable however, the food was quite underwhelming compared to what I was expecting. A Scallop and Truffle starter was rather bland and I really couldn’t taste the truffle. Main of Venison was nice but again, just lacked in flavour. Desert was excellent though. Expected more for a Michelin Star restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyNice venue and food but nothing special and very expensive.
Nice venue and food but nothing special. Service slow. Very expensive. Wine we wanted not available so paid 3 x more for bad wine recommended by sommelier. Disappointing dinner for 2 people for £400
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately Underwhelmed
Beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere, good service, good wine. I was so disappointed to not be blown away by any of the food. It was luke warm (cold artichoke with warm broth not very pleasant), and a really disappointing sweetbread which just had no flavour or lovely rich caramelisation - just really strong cumin and overwhelmingly sour ligonberries. Comparing to other restaurants pitching themselves at this 1* star it was a real shame and very much over priced. Felt rather sad leaving having been so excited to try.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the hype
I've wanted to visit this unique establishment for a while, given its unique set of unimpeachable Fat Duck pedigree in a small Bermondsey location. I loved it - the food was exceptional (we had risotto, pigeon, venison) and the wine list is very cleverly curated at good prices. Definite 1-michelin quality, exactly what you want - relaxed but very polished. The kitchen was so impressive, with Jonny Lake overseeing a super efficient and quiet team who seemed to operate telepathically. I'll admit the pricing is marginally higher than you'd expect, but understandable given the post corona issues and I thought definitely worth it.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food but pricey
Dinner was good and service very friendly. Chicken in vinegar was excellent and a generous size. The Drunken lobster had a substantial amount of lobster. Wines unusual with wine from Georgia and Armenia - good to try something different. We eat in a lot of Michelin star restaurants and we felt this one was over priced - putting 15% service charge on top didn’t help. Shame, as if a bit better priced, we would probably return.
Be the first to ReplyGood but over priced
The restaurant delivers good food, it’s well worth its Michelin star given the presentation and execution. Did I think the food was outstanding? No not really. It was the same quality and experience I’ve had many times before. The big difference here is the price. At around £30 for a starter and £50 for a main you better be delivering something pretty special. Unfortunately the food didn’t live up to that. As I said it was very good but the same very good you can get at a host of other restaurants for 30% less. We had a couple of snacks as they call them, 4 glasses of champagne and a bottle of wine. Only one of us took desert and the bill was roughly £660 for 4 people. The 15% service charge again feels a little bit punchy.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful and delicious
Great concept - casual and relaxed whilst feeling smart. Hugely refreshing to visit a Michelin star restaurant which does an a la carte menu, not an X course tasting menu. After trying the mains, I couldn’t quite believe this only has one star. It’s by far the best one star restaurant I’ve visited. I think it’s actually the mist delicious and delightful main I’ve had anywhere. Even the side dishes were fantastic! Wine was great and an interesting menu. Staff extremely knowledgeable and we enjoyed their pairing recommendations. Even the sake was fun to try (but glad we had a half glass!!) A memorable evening and ‘knock your socks off’ food. Thank you Trivet team
Be the first to ReplyTop notch high end food and service
We've enjoyed 4-5 wonderful meals at Trivet.
We're very pleased for their very well deserved recent recognition from Michelin, with a star, after a tough couple of years for restaurants (not helped by inept Govt "recommendations" !).
Highly refined cuisine, with fabulous flavours, but without the excessive richness of traditional French cuisine.
Very relaxed atmosphere given the high end food, with very efficient and professional service.
Some of our favourite dishes have been sweetbreads, pigeon and venison.
Its not cheap (say £45 for a main), but it is very good.
Eat out less often, but eat well !
An interesting and non-standard wine list worth investigating.
One of our favourite places in the area, so we'll definitely be back.
We wish them success.
I'm a little bit in love! This place really does deliver the whole package.
4-Mar Trivet: This was my second visit to Trivet, and my first since it obtained its Michelin star, which didn't surprise me at all after my first visit. I owe thanks to Andy Hayler, the restaurant critic, for putting this restaurant on my radar some time ago. Tonight's visit was even better than my first. I was amazed that one of the waiting staff recognised me and even remembered my pre-dinner drink of choice and which table I was sat at previously. This can't have been down to good record-keeping, as the table was previously booked in my friend's name. Genuine attention to detail on the staff member's part. On this occasion I had the Winter Sweetbread, the Venison and the Chocolate dessert, with a really interesting Turkish wine to accompany. Service was impeccable throughout and we left incredibly happy and certain that we will return again soon.
Be the first to ReplyOutrageously good
This place is tucked away off the beaten track but well worth a visit if you get the chance. The food is sublime, the freshness of ingredients and skill of cookery more than merits the recently achieved Michelin star.
The sommelier/part owner recommended some excellent middle eastern, and reasonably priced wines to accompany our food. He also paired desserts individually with drinks that went down a storm with our table.
I wouldn't hesitate to return. A real hidden gem.
Overpriced
I visited this restaurant today and have done so four times previously, food is good, service is good but the cost inflation is unacceptable. £661 for four people with three reasonable bottles of wine. £86 for service means that even my client commented as to how overpriced the meal was. It is a real shame that the prices seem to have doubled over the past two years as I really like this restaurant. I ate a J Sheekey on Tuesday where the food was better and 25% less cost wise.
Be the first to ReplyAverage at best
We ate here last weekend and were both disappointed. And also surprised to see the 1 Michelin star awarded this week. I had the winter sweetbread starter, which tasted almost entirely of cumin and had no flavour whatsoever on the sweetbread. At a £30 price for a starter, it was hugely disappointing. For the main, I had the pigeon, which was prepared well, but nothing overly special and didn’t justify the £45 price.
The wine list is very interesting with some cool selections from Eastern Europe at reasonable prices.
Perhaps something was just off with the restaurant that night. There were portable heaters in the dining room and the bartender was doubling as the somm. Either way, there are in my opinion many better options in London so won’t be back,
Outstanding
We enjoyed a magnificent lunch here as a birthday treat. Relaxed atmosphere and lovely setting with the kitchen totally visible and the added bonus of jonny working on the pass.
Excellent and extensive wine selection, so we tried wines by the glass that we wouldn't normally have.
Can't wait to go back.
Wonderful restaurant 4 mins from London Bridge. Fantastic food and service. Highly recommend.
17-Dec: All round excellent! A warm welcome, a nice little bar by the entrance, and a smart, modern dining room with well spaced tables. An open kitchen, so many diners can see the action. Top notch service throughout the evening. A lovely G&T. Absolutely delicious food: drunken lobster, venison, butter tart and a canele. A nice glass of rose to accompany. Still or sparkling water inclusive (a nice chance). Only 4 mins walk from London Bridge, so a very convenient location too. Highly recommend and will definitely return soon.
Be the first to ReplyWarm welcoming and cosily stylish
Nice place with good service and interesting menu.
Fish dishes was very testy, promptly served and service was excellent.
Only 5 minutes from London Bridge but tackled away from the main roads.
A October visit
Very much different to the food the chef cooked at the Fat Duck. The whole vibe is a much more relaxed experience. Use of some middle Eastern ingredients are scattered throughout the menu giving unexpected pops of flavour. Do not miss the bread which is stunning. The cured fish won out in the starters we had and the pigeon edged the main course. The summac cracker with the loin of lamb was a great textual foil and the fries with onion gravy extremely good. We also had the special of yoghurt ice cream with a spoonful of Tokaj Eazencia 2000. A real experience! The wine list is a very interesting piece of work/passion. Lots of unusual wines from away from the normal countries. This is somewhere to engage with the wine team and try something new. Don't leave without having a couple of Canele !
