VOLVER. Serviers-et-Labaume Reviews from The Last Year
I need to eat out more often!
I live five minutes away from this beautiful restaurant and have been wanting to try it. I was not let down and I'm not prone to hyperbole in reviewing restaurants. It's about four of miles from the center of Uzès and well worth the trip. It's in the country, but just off the main road so easy to find, and easy to park. Housed in a restored old building and featuring immaculately kept gardens, it just feels special. I was struck by the attention to detail throughout, and the exceptional level of cleanliness and orderliness; this is a serious, modern, professional restaurant. Dining room: gorgeous and just a little fancy. But homey at the same time. Well lit, comfortable chairs, some marble tables, some wood tables. Contemporary with a touch of old France. Classic French music playing at just the right level. Thoughtful sound baffles on the ceiling counteract the concrete floors and other hard surfaces. Service: on a Thursday evening, the dining room was mostly full at 8 p.m. (I counted 16 of us at 7 tables) and server Shumi had the room under control, moving swiftly and professionally between tables, not missing a beat. Towards the end of the evening the chef came around to each table which is a nice touch. Menu: Concise and changes monthly. 48 euros gets you an appetizer, main course, and dessert; there were two or three choices per course. Provided is small dish olives and preserved garlic and a small toast…. just a couple mouthfuls, and then an amuse-bouche which was small bowl of cream of zucchini. The wine list has many local choice and several wines by the glass for 5 and 6 euros. Food: I can't say enough good things about it both in terms of taste and presentation. Attention to detail comes in to play again here… succulent bursts of taste and texture throughout…. there were even two fresh chestnuts in my autumn chicken dish. (If you go in October '23, I highly recommend the tempura shrimp as an entrée and the chef's modern take on a pot au feu with chicken.) I'm certain the whole grain bread was house made and a nice touch from standard baguette. Dessert: not my favorite course in general but desserts are a very important part of a French meal. I ordered the chocolate dessert which besides being too big (!!) was a sublime combination of four chocolate creations: a wafer thin cookie; a softer, crumbled cookie; the smoothest chocolate mousse; and an almost bittersweet, super dark chocolate gelato… nothing was too sweet and there were hints of sea salt. I'm eager to go back, and will. Hats off to the team at Volver!
Great place, great evening
A beautiful location. Friendly and efficient service, food cooked and presented with outstanding culinary care. Don't miss it if you're in the area.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
