Sublime
The Omakase is a journey of culinary discovery. It almost seems as if the team wait for the last possible moment to create the menu right in front of you.

Great for a meal in their casual dining section. Our third visit. Excellent food & service. Also good that it was a la carte rather than the omikase menu. Would definitely go again.

Each course was impeccable accompanied by attentive and top notch service staff. Can’t find any fault in our meal here, only wished that we had a bigger stomach capacity! Thank you Team Waku Ghin for the great dining experience, we will be back!
Be the first to ReplyGreat luxury dining experience. Exceptional service. A stalwart of Singapore's fine dining scene.
Great food. Lives up to its reputation. Portions could be a little bigger for the price. Service is exceptional. Benjamin and Miki and staff take extra care to ensure we were comfortable and elevated our dining experience.

You should definitely go for the chef’s table, it is quite an experience! The food is amazing and so is the performance of preparing it right in front of you. The menu is expensive, but worth every penny. We hope to be able to return if we have the chance.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Birthday Dinner
We had a private room to ourselves, start off with some sake. The server show us the tray of Seafood and Meat for our dinner. The food just keep coming, everything is fresh and tasty, we ate so full ! Highly recommended for that special occasion to dine here !

The fried fish have kind of oil smelling Maỉhai is not enough sweet. Too sour Total capacity size seems not enough for an adult male. Still not feel full after dinner Hope the chief could adjust aătereard

Heard many great things about Waku Ghin and was definitely not disappointed! The food was amazing and I will come back again for sure. To those who are hesitating, don't! It is a must come! I opted for the $550 Omakase, it was amazing. Can't wait for the next time!

Amazing food, if possible ask for the chefs table when making a reservation. Absolutely amazing, the staff caters to your every need I never knew what real service was until I went here. WOW

Excellent service rendered; quality of the produces was great and the chef treated the food with great respect and did them justice. I was here to celebrate my good friend's birthday and the team did a great job to make his birthday very memorable.
Be the first to ReplyEvolved (Not Necessarily Better or Worse)
Waku Ghin hits different from previous years, definitely more Western than Japanese today (then again, they never did claim to be be 'Authentic Japanese'). Food and service is consistently excellent. My only gripe is that there are too many cooked dishes, I miss the Waku Ghin of before. I am somewhat open to revisit but will definitely consider other options ahead of Wake Ghin, especially at this price point.
Be the first to ReplyWe do not recommend this place
For this US $1000 meal, we provide two reviews both concluding that this meal was awful. Dimitri’s: Absolutely NOT recommended. Very uncomfortable seating. Very cold room even after we complained and they offered a shawl. Ingredients came from far away and therefore must be expensive. Only 10 people for a single seating per evening with 2 chefs and much staff - adding to the expense. As soon as you sat down, they tried to upgrade you from the S$ 550 that you reserved to a premium ingredient menu at S$ 750. Very off-putting. The food was nice but with no WOW factor. Too many ingredients in a single dish: uni is great by itself, why do you need Oscietra caviar with it, and also some shrimp? By the way, the uni is not fresh - it is flown frozen from Hokkaido and then defrosted in Singapore. Why do we have to move to a different room for the dessert? That room was also very cold although we had been told it would be warmer there. Definitely not worth the price! Audre: we had been looking forward to sampling Tetsuya’s food since we missed his restaurant in Sydney in 2005. So, about 20 years later we decided to spring for the US$1000 meal and experience what people were raving about. This was not a meal by a great chef. This was a meal in which the price charged was being justified by adding fancy ingredients on top of fancy ingredients. No dish exalted the ingredients. Whatever happened to creating dishes to permit the flavors of the main ingredient to shine? Whatever happened to providing comfort for the guests: even little Audre had her knees up against the back of the counter (in order to be close enough to the counter to eat). Even Audre was freezing in the room. The chef on our side of the counter, Che Meing, was catty and fun but he had only been working 10 years. Maybe Chef Tetsuya is no longer cooking, but we would have been more impressed with a veteran chef. Instead of listing all of the dishes, this will highlight a few: the Avruga Flan was a take on chawan mushi. It was an okay substitute but we asked ourselves: “why substitute—just make a sublime chawan mushi?” The dish described as “purée of potato with soft poached egg, winter black truffle and Oscietra caviar” was ludicrous. Why have truffle and caviar? Oh, because the black truffle was tasteless! The pan-seared Korean Abalone, from Jeju no less, was tender and good but was too huge a piece for that stage of the menu. The dishes that followed were Canadian lobster and Japanese Wagyu beef. The dishes for dessert were not outstanding. We know how expensive Japanese strawberries are but the ones served were not tasty and were not red all the way through. The menu called for a “Paris Brest” as one of the desserts. We had to ask because we couldn’t find it on our dessert plate. It was smaller than a thimble and was nothing special. The Shencha tea was tasteless. Oh man; we were so disappointed and we spent S$1306.80/US $997.56. We think that the entire concept of the restaurant needs to be re-thought. If the only way to keep the chefs from melting is to have the guests freeze, then this arrangement of having the chefs cooking behind the counter where the guests eat must be changed. The sourcing of the ingredients should also undergo assessment. And the mounding of expensive ingredients on top of expensive ingredients should be eliminated. In addition, the reservation process was excruciatingly painful and annoying.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not a joyful experience.
The food is undeniably very good (albeit not great), but the overall experience is not one of joy. It starts with the reservation process: They insist that you sign a deposit form, but their low-tech system does not allow for electronic signing, and the severe reservation team is quite inflexible and unpleasant at enforcing the rules! Service is very attentive (even a bit too much so). The food is a bit of a letdown. Superbly fresh ingredients; it’s a shame that there are so many cooked dishes! The only superb dish is the signature shrimp/uni/caviar (which you can order à la carte for $150++, I think). Lots of French or Italian-style dishes. Frankly, I much more enjoy a sushi Omakase at the likes of Shinji or Ki-sho. More or less same price, but much purer and less bling.

Had the best desserts at Waku Ghin. The cakes, albeit smaller than usual, were packed with goodness. A piece of art, which was crafted for me to devour.

Both the food and experience were great. The staff were very friendly, attentive and professional. Pricing is very high, even compared to the 3 Michelin star restaurants in Singapore. But Japanese food is not known for its competitive pricing I guess.
Be the first to ReplyAnother great food experience, and another glitch that was not excusable
We returned to Waku Ghin for the first time after the renovation and I would have easily given an 'Excellent' rating if there wasn't another glitch that was extremely annoying... Let me start with the food: It is absolutely world class amazing! Every single course was immaculate, and the sommelier recommended and amazing bottle of Sake. Course after course, the food was blowing us away, the flavors are amazing, and it is a ton of fun to sit at the counter and watch the chefs doing their magic! Eating at Waku Ghin is a true experience and sitting at a long counter with four other couples provided a rather private experience which we always appreciate. The service was spotless and the only reason I did not give it an excellent rating is because of what happened at the end of the visit (more below). Be aware that the pace here is slow, our visit was more than 4 hours, so I recommend an early seating. There was absolutely nothing during our 10-course meal that was not perfect. Every single course delivered on flavors and textures, all of that paired with surprises like the seasonable pasta dish. Unfortunately, the evening did not end well. When I asked for the check, I handed my Amex Platinum to the staff, and they went missing for a full 15 minutes at a time we were ready to leave after a long meal. They returned telling me that there was an Amex system issue, and the card didn't work. I had just used the card for a very large purchase at MBS right before dinner, so I knew the card was just fine. I also did not receive a fraud notification from Amex. They asked for a different card, but I was sure the Amex was working so I declined. After some back and forth, staff told me that they would work it out on their end the next day, which was fine with me. So, I was really surprised to receive a call from the restaurant the next day, asking me to come back! At this point, I contacted Amex, and they reassured me that my card was just fine, and that the restaurant tried to charge the card I used to secure the reservation (I had my number stolen so I had a new card since). Even though the restaurant had my new card in hand they did not charge it. We returned to the restaurant (not in a very good mood) and when they tried my card it worked just fine on the first try. Staff blamed the 'MBS system' and they were very apologetic, but I have never been asked in my life to return to a restaurant to resolve a billing issue. I would expect a lot better service after spending SGD 2,000+ for a meal for two. Service has to go all the way start to end and Waku Ghin did not deliver on that. I would go back for the food anytime, but they need to work on their processes and systems. I still gave a very good rating in hope that the glitch was a one-off.
Be the first to ReplyFreshness Guaranteed..
We opted for the 10 course Omakase , which was amazing. Paired it with the signature house sake which complimented each dish perfectly. The dishes were well presented, fresh and absolutely delicious. We had a sweet ending to the meal with a complimentary birthday cake and the deconstructed Paris Brest. Would highly recommend to anyone…

Overall my experience is very good, I was there on a group dinner, therefore the meal presented and served was pre-arranged by the organizer. The ambiance is very exclusive and bit mysterious. The price is premium. I am not fan of raw food, so this is not so fit into my food preference.
Be the first to Replygreat experience, although the price is very pricey
the staff is very friendly, with good attitude and knowledge on the drink list. The omakase menu is just nice for light eaters. the pace of the servings is good. The drink list are on the high side.

The decor was amazing as the food! Staff was friendly. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the fresh uni
Be the first to ReplyTruly live up to expectation
1st time here. The entire meal was an art of work and i have nothing to fault at all. The Shiga beef and Kinki fish with sushi rice was probably the best dishes of the night. We managed to met Chef Tetsuya and had a picture with him. What an absolute honour
Be the first to Reply2 star japanese
Probably the most expensive restaurant in Singapore at $700+++ (they have a cheaper set at $500+++)
The food is excellent with steamed, grilled, raw and simmered dishes. About 12-14 courses including desserts
Service is very good as well
They advertise a 2 hour meal but it actually takes 3.5 hrs
Would i return or is this good value? Odette and Les Amis have 1 more star at half the price
Tailor-made menu chef show
I have a lot of dietary restrictions including pescetarian, dairy free, no deep fried, gluten free, no egg yolk, no carbohydrates, no organ, no fatty and silver skinned fish etc. And the chef could take care all of my needs and presented a wonderful omakase menu tailored for me! I’m very appreciate!
There was also a chef show at the sushi counter (omakase table) and we could watch the chef selecting the best seasonal ingredients, marinated, seasoned and cooked and finished up in front of us.
What a great experience!
Fabulous!
Great food and great experience. Never been to waku ghin and managed to get a reservation 2 months in. Did not disappoint
Be the first to ReplyJust one word … Stunning !
If you manage to get a table you will not regret it. The food is absolutely stunning and no wonder they have Michelin stars !
