Discrimination/Racism
After reading the reviews I was excited to visit this restaurant to try their shrimp and grits. The hostess greeted us at the front and said there would be a few minutes wait because they had a full house. After a few minutes we were seated and gave the waitress our order, up to this point the experience was pleasant and nothing out of the ordinary. After maybe a 30-40 minute wait I started to realize that people who were seated after us were receiving their food before us. Having been seated for almost an hour with no food I finally told my husband we were leaving!!! Pay for the drinks and letโs go!!! As we were leaving the waitress said the food was coming out and if we would like for her to box it to take with us. I said NO you can keep it!!! At this point I felt this was discrimination! My family is black, while several white families/couples were sat after me but received their food before me (they ordered some of the same items that we did). Blatant or subtle you be the judge!!! Keep in mind that the waitress never came over after seating us to explain the delay or why others received food before us!!! #discrimination #racist #racismin2023
Be the first to ReplyVery Casual and Good Breakfast
WE offers traditional breakfast fare along with burger/fries/sandwich/etc. for lunch. Parking is plentiful and the atmosphere is very casual. Outdoor seating is available with a view of the water. Hours are limited to 7:00 am to 12:30 pm. Our food was good and ample in portion size.

Quaint little gem on the canal. It was a busy morning at the cafe and Melissa handled it all with a smile and keeping up with the coffee. The food was very good. We had French Toast and 2 Egg Classic. Thank you Waters Edge for a great breakfast.

Fantastic breakfast while we were waiting for our cruise boarding appointment. Shrimp & grits, as well as the breakfast burrito! ๐คฉ
Be the first to ReplyGreat breakfast entertaining view
This is a great place to have a casual meal while being "entertained" watching the port and boat ramp activities. The food is above average, attractively served with reasonably sized portions. The waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable.

We have been here several times for breakfast. It is adjacent to Jetty Park campground and the cruise terminals. The food and prices are excellent, the waitresses are friendly and service is right on. You can sit on the deck and watch the boats. Donโt miss it.

Water's Edge Cafe and Tackle Shop
Port Canaveral, FL
4.5 Stars
****Hidden Gem****
I have this buddy from high school who use to go deep fishing with his dad and brother in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico every year. He told me that one year the fish just weren't interested and that he and his brother were looking at the bait bucket and getting hungry. They were using Japanese Mackerel for bait, otherwise known as Aji at a Sushi joint (one of their favorites). One mention of this to the patriarch and before you know it the three of them were chowing down on the bait. The crew looked on in stunned silence as the three of them scarfed the whole bucket down in a matter of minutes.
Why do I bring this up? Well, that was what I was thinking when the name of the next place appeared on my random name generator Water's Edge Cafe and Tackle Shop. This place had been and still is a tackle shop. Back in 2017, someone got the bright idea to forage into the foodservice industry and opened a cafe attached to the bait shop. Upon entering, I felt like I was in the local Walmart as they had just about everything needed for fishing of any kind for sale all over the place. This is some tackle shop!
However, the items for sale seemed to have been at least partly venal as they had 3 tables open, three waiters and I sat for four minutes (which is an eternity in an empty place). I was finally shown a table and handed a menu. The cafe is only open for breakfast and lunch with limited operating hours. The menu was, as you can see, varied without being too visionary. Hey, if it's your first foray into the biz, I always say, โkeep it simple.โ
My waitress was Kelsey and I am on a roll lately with wait staff as she has a great personality and just oozes gregariousness. I asked her for some shrimp and grits along with an order of Corned beef hash. As she left to turn in my order, I took the time to look about. The place has gorgeous views of a cruise ship today and the waterway every day.
Returning with my order, Kelsey asked if I needed anything else then left me to enjoy my meal along with the aforementioned view. The grits were fresh, creamy and cooked to perfection while I found the shrimp to be tender and succulent on the palate. The Corned beef hash was obviously made with care and was bursting with flavor while I found the home fries to be made to order and entirely delectable. The biscuit was also made to order and would make any Grandma double-check her recipe.
Honestly, I went in expecting a thoroughly milquetoast tasting experience and came away completely in love with the place. This is our first Hidden Gem since the post-Covid return of The Big Boy and I can't recommend the place enough. In truth, the only downside was that everything was served in take-out containers (no doubt due to Covid).
The Big Boy says, โIf you are in need of anything having to do with harvesting fish out of water or yearning for some fantastic food, the Water's Edge Cafe and Tackle Shop should be your go-to place!โ
Rude/Disrespectful ๐ก๐ฉ
Very disrespectful lady greeted us when we arrived and told us they were closed on Wednesdays. I asked to use the restrooms and was denied. She rudely told me they were only for employees.

Delicious Manhattan chowder. Very nice restaurant with a great setting. Roc shrimp was perfect. Waitress 5star
Be the first to ReplyNice view and service - quality of food needs improvement
The place is quaint and itโs fun to grab a mimosa and watch the boats at the ramp. The servers are always super nice. We finally decided to stop in for some breakfast. Though the prices are reasonable, the quality of the food isnโt great. I ordered a ham, mushroom and cheese omelette and a side of fruit. The fruit came from a can, that blend kind like I used to get in grade school. The ham was deli thin slice and the mushrooms were canned. I just canโt believe anyone in this day of age would serve canned food for something so simple as breakfast.

Iโve meant to try this spot for a while. Out at the ramp on a Saturday morning and decided to give it a try. Really nice spot and the food was delicious. Server was very attentive and friendly. If you can, sit outside- beautiful view and just a pleasant place to enjoy breakfast.

We thought ...surely it can't be way back here, but we did find it. Not very busy for a Sunday at noon ? The price of my meal was on special only $6.95 called 3-2-1. They were out of grits for breakfast . No biggie but they were also out of certain lunch items at 12 noon ? The quality was good to average...well not 2 of the 3 huge pancakes. I ate the done one of the 3, which was plenty in size. Bacon was very good though but only one strip ? Maybe one or two ( certainly not 3) fully cooked (golden brown, instead of beige) pancakes, two eggs, and 2 of the delicious bacon strips would be better ? I think so anyway. The milk size for $2.50 was a bit small.Others in the group thought the food was very good. I was told that the shrimp and corn chowder was excellent. Great friendly staff. I will surely return, if nothing else ...to try the chowder, and possibly one of the sandwiches they were out of.

Breakfast was excellent and service was friendly. We had the country fried steak with hash browns and biscuits and gravy as well as the 2 egg breakfast with bacon and grits. Very yummy creamy grits!!!

Stopped here for lunch after a day trip lollygagging in Cocoa Beach. I had the Mahi tacos, which were great but they did not have lemon wedges. Not a deal breaker but a little disappointing. My husband had deep fried shrimp and they were delicious.
The service was quick and friendly and the view was very nice in spite of the construction and dredging equipment in the harbor. Once that is all done, I think the views will be spectacular.
Only open for breakfast and lunch so give them a try!!
