Waverly Inn New York Reviews from The Last Year
Beautiful interiors and ambience, food was pretty good but
Beautiful interiors and ambience, food was pretty good but not outstanding. However the ambience made up for it and I would return again. Service was excellent.
There's good and bad.
The drinks were really weak. The food is OK. Sadly, the opening biscuits and sweet butter were the best part. But I did leave satisfied enough not to be mad. Love the outdoor seating. The inside is cool. The bathrooms are so small. I almost didn't even fit into the stall and I am 110 pounds. The service was friendly, although the waiter disappeared for long periods twice. It's definitely a must try if you've never been. Love the location, off the beaten path. Not sure if I'll be back again but maybe :).

We had early reservations and were seated in the garden in the back. Food was good and great location! Will definitely go there again.
Was so excited to try this place, but left feeling
Was so excited to try this place, but left feeling disappointed. Food was okay. Nothing special about the wedge salad; blue cheese flavor was overpowering. Service was non-existent. Nobody checked in on us during our meal, and didn't say a single word while we paid. For how expensive the food is, this should be the bare minimum. Ambiance was nice, but very dark inside.
After missing the game winner in my NYC Basketball Men's
After missing the game winner in my NYC Basketball Men's League Game, I had never needed a Negroni more. The shot felt so good coming off of my hand too.. damn I'm getting re-mad just typing this rn. I showered at the gym to try and rid myself of the stench of failure, and booked it over to the Waverly Inn as I was meeting my 2 big homies for dinner. I arrived at what I thought was the wrong location, as it fooled me for a West Village townhouse at first. Quaint and unassuming. I entered and found my big homie at the bar, already drinking a Negroni. MY MAN! We were seated immediately and before my ass even hit the seat I ordered one, as I had to catch up. Upon sitting, I realized this is the exact ambiance I had been craving for my birthday dinner: A small low lit room, funky art on the wall that's probably done by some famous artist, long white table cloths, wood paneled ceilings, engaging waiters, staff dressed to the nines, old wooden chairs, etc. It's essentially everything I was hoping the ambiance at Peter Luger would be. It's a place where I just want to link and build. Right as I was taking it in, thinking about all the linking and building I could do here--BANG! Negroni on the table. All is well. As I was deciding on what to demolish, I noticed a quote at the top of the menu that read: "Waverly Inn - worst food in the city" -Donald J. Trump ahahahahahha that sh*t got me. That was funny. We opted to get Oysters, the Burrata, the Burger, the Chicken Pot Pie, and the Squid Ink Pasta. I love sharing mains as you get to just try a little bit of everything... I never could growing up though because my brother is a savage and we would go to war on shared plates. Kill or be killed with that man ahahha. I normally highlight a favorite, but honestly, everything was HITTIN. I guess if I had to I'd say the Oysters and the Squid Ink Pasta... Oh yeah actually those oysters were IT. Some of the best I've had in my mf life. Idk what my boy Pedro (our waiter) put in that 2nd negroni I ordered, but that had me ROCKED! Shoutout to Pedro. They do not skimp on the drinks here I promise you. The Negronis had us down so bad that we ordered the Bananas Foster dessert, which turned out to be a phenomenal decision. This was my introduction to a Bananas Foster. I didn't know until then, that I had been waiting my whole life for a Bananas Foster. I went to the restroom at one point, really just to get some pics for y'all but one of the staff members stopped me and said "Sorry we don't allow pictures in here." Her tone was so genuinely kind that I felt bad and was like wow I'm so sorry and she was all "don't worry, how would you have known?" paired with a diffusing smile ... That's so fair. What a nice way to say that. It also made me realize that I can be impacted/manipulated by someone's tone and facial expressions so easily ahahaha. I love meeting a great communicator... All in all, I love this place. If I could go back in time, I think the only thing I would change would be to change my birthday dinner from Peter Luger to here. Oh and I would want one more crack at that game winner in my NYC Basketball Men's League Game......... IG @jnov_ TIktok @jnov__
A West Village hallmark, where cobblestone meets
A West Village hallmark, where cobblestone meets contemporary, lies the Waverly Inn. It whispers the secrets of old New York thru its ivy-clad facade and warms the modern soul with its hearth and hospitality. The garden seating is quaint and charming, the staff is genuine and warm, and the food is fine, albeit expensive. In a timeless nod to the NYC brunch classics, I ordered the eggs benedict, the crab cake, and a yogurt parfait. While reasonable all together, the English muffins were tough and near-impossible to cut, the poached eggs didn't quite exude the golden lava flow one desires, and the hollandaise was a bit thick. The crab cake had a good amount of tender, sweet crab meat, but the sauce felt very Whole Foods build-your-own-bar to-go aioli. To the positive, the biscuits and the fries were a hit amongst the table. The staff is very kind and welcoming, so despite the food's shortcomings, the altogether package was still pleasant. Maybe not the best food, but it's still an NYC institution.
Great food, ate there after a play in 2023.
It was crowded right up to closing. Vibe was energetic.

The Waverly inn is one of those places that you will think back on for a long long time. Such a cozy and romantic place. If you have the chance to go do so
Lovely choice for business dinner for six!
Mostly excellent food (crabcakes, steak tartare, hamachi ceviche) with the prices to match. Appetisers and mains truly delicious. Deserts fine but nothing to shout about. The room was warm - and full of character. One of our sides was delayed and they comped the deserts which was very generous. Lovely way to spend evening with colleagues while in NYC.
This is a great WV neighborhood gem and I highly recommend
This is a great WV neighborhood gem and I highly recommend to anyone in the area. The chicken pot pie and cheeseburger are our go-tos and never miss! Also, if you go for brunch, my boyfriend is obsessed with their lattes -- they come in a fancy wine glass, great vibes. Can't wait to come back soon!
Honestly the food is decent, but the vibes are 10/10.
You could come here and get a jar of mayonnaise and think it was great solely because of the ambiance and exceptional service. I would come here over and over and sit in the main room with the Edward Sorel mural.
Well worth visiting
Great ambience, and feel, although the seating we had was the one downside, as we were next to a main run between tables, and so people moving past could not avoid but bumping into one of the chairs. Food was extremely good, and generous portions. Service best described as efficient. All was well cooked and presented. It is expensive but overall it was a very good experience.
Excellent food & service!
After seeing that Donald Trump named this restaurant the worst in NY, I knew that I would likely love it. He lies about everything. Why would this be any different? Food was wonderful, and staff were all friendly and helpful. I had the chicken pot pie, which was perfect for this cold, rainy evening. The roll with honey butter that came prior to my dinner was warm and delicious. I ended the meal with what I can only describe as the best bananas foster I have ever had. Donald was wrong yet again! Great job, Waverly Inn!
Bucket list item, very good
Bucket list item for us. Went for my birthday. Sat in the conservatory (garden) and loved it. Got there early so there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. My online reservation request was for the conservatory; the hostess brought me to an inside table. I told her I had requested the conservatory and she agreed to bring us there which was fine. Yes the food is expensive but we found it delicious. We had attentive, lovely service. The atmosphere is divine, inside and out. There is a bar you can eat at, first come first serve. There is also outdoor street dining. Funny anecdote about the "snobbery": we went outside after our meal and asked a man who appeared to be the manager (he was chatting with the staff and looked official) to take our photo. He stared down his nose at us and hesitated but agreed to. He did take a lovely photo of us and we had a good laugh at his attitude.
Slipped badly
Warm and comfortable space where I have been coming for years….but now the food has slipped and the service inattentive. Very disappointing….high expectations met with mediocre at best food and dismal service except for the bar….. Don’t expect me to pay more and get less…time for a real inspection of food quality, service training, and more customer feedback. Regulars are too polite about a rapidly deteriorating experience……please be great again
Pretty but that’s all folks!
I read a couple of reviews before going. Most were right on nose. Place is very very pretty if you sit in the Garden. Food was ok, nothing bad just ok. Service was fairly good until near the end when we ordered more drinks which never appeared. Very expensive for the food and service.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
