Wa'z Seattle Reviews from The Last Year

I have had this spot bookmarked for a couple of years now, so I could not have been more excited to have my first kaiseki experience and taste the set menu for March! After 9 courses, I was pretty satisfied, and definitely felt that the meal was worth the price. My favorites were the first course, which was a deep fried sesame tofu with sea urchin and wasabi. The texture of the tofu was similar to mochi. I also really enjoyed the fourth course, which was the dry aged blue fin tuna nigiri. The chirashi sushi course with the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu was delicious as well. Overall, it was difficult for me to let any food on my plates go to waste as everything tasted so delicious. In general, I would recommend reserving a spot at the counter if you can. It is a wonderful experience getting to see each dish being prepared. Also, this restaurant does have a 30 min grace period for any parties running late to the reservation. Luckily everyone that had a reservation for my time slot arrived punctually, and did not have to wait long before food started to be served.

Chef Hiro, native of Kyoto, artfully blends exquisite ingredients from Japan with local PNW seasonal specialties to bring kaiseki cuisine to the next level. Seattlelites should count ourselves extremely lucky to have such a fine establishment here where ~12 customers can sit at the counter and enjoy watching Chef Hiro and his team meticulously craft each delicate kaiseki course served on beautiful Japanese serve-ware. Having had many kaiseki cuisine across Japan and other Asian countries, Wa'z is definitely among the best. Price wise, it's comparable to other high-end multi-courses omakase / seasonal set menu restaurants in the area, but the ability to chat across the table with chef Hiro and his incredibly professional team is priceless!

Tasty kaiseki experience, largely marred by the fact that one group arrived 30min late for the dinner, so those of us who showed up 10min early were waiting for most of an hour to eat. Service was pleasant but exceedingly inefficient, where we would listen to the server do her intro to each course for the two groups next to us and then have to listen a third time. For such a small space, it seemed like they would have wanted to speak to a larger group all at once for fewer repetitions (as we've experienced at other counter-style restaurants).
We called twice for reservation.
They did no answer (It was during service hours) and they did not return our calls. For an upscale restaurant, this is unforgivable. We were really looking forward to an extraordinary experience with out friends, but are left with a very bitter taste. It seems that a restaurant that charges $175 per meal with 20$ service charge, would take better care of potential customers.
Hospitality and seafood excellence
For a special occasion dinner, this restaurant and staff exceeded my expectations. We went mid week, counter seating. Staff attentive and provided nice little extras like a hook for my handbag, a lobby coat rack, warm, wet hand towels. Chef owner Hiro himself cooked and served. We indulged in a paired sake tasting with the meal and it was educational and tasty. The food was excellent, seafood melt in your mouth, and quite varied for late winter, some sourced from Japan. Hiro provided context for each course, how it related to the overall theme of the meal. The atmosphere was easygoing, organized, courses timed nicely, I could not have asked for a better dining experience.

I'm not sure if it's fair to compare this place to Wataru
I'm not sure if it's fair to compare this place to Wataru and Taneda. The food is definitely good but the other two places I've mentioned are better. One thing that I didn't quite enjoy was the service. The server (dude in Crocs) was just okay. I think he needs to take a hospitality course because he doesn't say anything when you tell him thank you. It feels like I'm talking to a cold brick wall. He asked about alcohol and if it was okay and I told him I wasn't sure. He said a little should be fine. The thing is, it's up to me to decide that and not him so it was a little off putting to me. The placement of some of the food wasn't straight and my wife and friend had to ask for a refill or pour our own drinks. The place good. Not great or excellent though due to the service we got.
This was a unique restaurant.
Each month and season, the restaurant prepared a different menu. So it's challenging to rate the dishes, as I have only been here during november. It's an Omakase experience (chef's choice of 9 courses). The chef watches you interact with each dishes, you can say its an art show and all the attention is on you. The vibe was calm and cozy. Definitely a spot for intimate date to make an impression. Its a challenge to describe how and the difference between each dishes as they are too different from one another to compare. The most memorable experience that I can remember was the alcohol infused persimmons with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I would recommend for a first time experience of omakase!
This place is one of the best restaurant in Seattle.
Fresh seafood true to taste and culinary skill. The restaurant was cozy with ample sitting. All the guests came on time to enjoy fun and laughter around. The staff was friendly and patiently introduced the dishes with passion.
Food 5/10 All my friends enjoyed the meal except me.
It could just be me that I am not a fan of Kaiseki cuisine. I cannot name a single dish that I liked. Service 8/10 We were introduced to each dish with stories. Helps and requests were answered on time. Great service. Ambiance 7/10 Clean, cozy, comfortable modern setting with kitchen table available.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
