Good Main Line eats.
Nice place, good food, crowded and noisy. It was very difficult to block out the next table's conversation. They weren't loud the place was just noisy.

Be the first to ReplyTreated like โstraysโ at White Dog Cafe!
Treated like โstraysโ at White Dog Cafe! Made Saturday night reservation for 2 at 7pm. Only availability was outdoor space diningโฆ Ok, weโve done this before, and since Covid, high-end restaurants have learned to pull it off, pretty well. We arrived on time, dressed beautifully, we saved our appetite for a delicious dinner. Expected to pay $350 for a nice dinner for two. Arranged childcare and drove 15 miles for a very special experience. Waited 15 minutes to be seated and were finally escorted into this โcheesyโ outdoor, wedding tent. Our table was next to the generator. This was a large tented space, on a February night, with only 1 floor heater that we could find. It was unquestionably cold. Chairs were metal and immediately chilled our thighs. Dreary ambience. Soon moved closer to the single heater, but still too cold. We would have to wear our coats in order to remain and dine. Snarky hostessโ and manager claimed it would be impossible to find us a better table. It was now 7:30 PM. Yet the outdoor space was only 25% full, at most. Not surprisedโฆ We told manager this was unacceptable for an expensive, planned for, dinner. They were actually insulted by our bad reaction to their frigid accommodations. Truly it was my husband and I who were insulted! Assigned to dine in the pricy, cold, doghouse! After the manager made no attempt to make us comfortable and full-well knowing we would not be having dinner this night, we walked out. I donโt think we have ever been treated so badly at a restaurant, where we were willing to give so much!
Be the first to ReplyBest Happy Hour on the Mainline
This is the best Happy Hour on the Main Line. I usually stick with the Cabernet, but my wife goes with the seasonal cocktails--most recently, the spicy Magarita. The truffle fries broke our New Year's resolutions, but they are worth the calories. Peter K. (bartender) is a delight.
Be the first to ReplyDinner- wonderful review
Michelle - the young manager is very engaging, kind , considerate. Hold onto her. The bartenders are wonderful and can multitask easily. The kings rolls& ham& mashed potatoes are delicious. I will be back. Michael McGlinchey
Be the first to ReplyNot good
The best thing about the restaurant is the outdoor seating under the tent, that was lovely. I ordered the hamburger ($24) that was nothing like the juicy, tasty burger from years past. It was skinny and tasteless, and also came with cheese when Iโd requested without it. I mentioned to my friend that itโs probably a preformed patty like you get from Costco and she said no, Costcoโs is better. The fries were limp and not crispy. When I mentioned about the cheese, I received a half-hearted offer to remake the burger, but I didnโt want to wait, so I just scraped it off. The mustard is baseball park yellow, not something like Grey Poupon. I ate only about half the burger, and no one asked why. Itโs a shame because the patio area is so nice, but the food, such a disappointment. Oh, and yeah, theyโre now adding a credit card fee.

We've eaten at the White Dog Cafe before and enjoyed it. This visit was UNACCEPTABLE! We ate in the outside tent. The noise level was so loud we couldn't hear each other even when sitting next to the person speaking. it ruined the experience. Also shocking, there is no baby changing table available in the restroom. In 2023, we actually had to change our baby on the sink.....not sanitary for us or for the people following us. I thought I'd give the restaurant a chance to respond before writing this poor review so I wrote them directly.. But, clearly they don't care since no response has been received from them days later. I guess this is an example of 'we're so big, it doesn't matter if people had a poor experience".
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and atmosphere
We have always loved this place and glad to see it hasnโt gone downhill. I love that they have healthy, local and vegetarian options. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and the atmosphere is so cute with the dogs but also upscale. Service was very good, especially by post COVID standards. Yes, there is a credit car surcharge but itโs waived if you use cash or debit so just come prepared.
Be the first to ReplyDifficult Reservations for larger parties.
This is not a food review. I have been to White Dog for brunch and have loved it. However, I wouldn't recommend if trying to plan brunch with a group of people. Tried to reserve a table for 13 adults and 1 child. After multiple phone calls and emails, all with conflicting information, I got nowhere. The time I requested wasn't available after being told it was, as well as no other dining options than to turn it into a private party with a fixed menu (after being told we didn't have to use the fixed menu). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like anyone is on the same page and this restaurant appears to be dependent on an outside agency to reserve a table for 14 people...not 100...
Be the first to ReplyGreed pure and simple
This used to be our favorite place to dine out. But since this restaurant decided to make its customers pay a surcharge to use a credit card, we will never visit again. We stuck by this establishment over the pandemic eating in a tent. Times get tough on working people (inflation/recession) and how do they repay you. Greedโฆno bread on table anymore, raised prices for everything and added surcharge to use credit card. Just unbelievable.
Be the first to Reply2% charge if pay by credit card and $100 bill need to check ID??
We had a party of 5 this afternoon. Everything is fine. Until the bill is up, we noticed that is 2% charge if pay by credit card. We decided to use Cash, which is $200 on $20 dollar bill and 1 $100 dollar bill. I don't understand why the waitress asked my ID for using $100 dollar bill. Because I am a bilingual Asian,? FEEL BAD for this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional dining experience!
Exceptional dining experience from our server Greg, who did not miss a beat on explaining the menu choices, following up on our experience and his professionalism, to the venue and culinary food experience, I would give this place a 10!
Be the first to ReplyGreat for brunch
We stopped by White Dog Cafe for some Sunday Brunch. Make sure you have a reservation, since this restaurant is very popular for brunch. Enjoyed the Fried Chicken and Waffles. The Cheeseboard was a bit underwhelming, but other dishes were great. Service was friendly and fast - even with large crowds.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and attentive service
My brother and I visited White Dog twice for dinner during the first week of May. Our waiter was Leonardo both times. We learned he was a relatively new server, but he acted in a very professional manner and was conscientious and patient, taking notes of our order and special requests. Throughout our meal he checked on us at appropriate times, making sure we had what we needed. On our second visit, the hostess, Lasha (sp?) was very helpful making sure we had a quiet corner in the attractive library-like area easy for talking, given the buzzy bistro-style noise level of the cafe. She also followed up to check on us. We had fish one night and steak the second and both meals, sides and salads were delicious. If we have reason to be in Wayne again, weโll definitely return to White Dog.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding First Visit
Our family of 4 dined at Whitedog for the first time and requested patio seating. It was warm and cozy for dinner on a chilly March night. The service was fantastic - attentive from every aspect. Out waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive as was the bar and other wait staff - we really could not have asked for better. The food was fresh - from the bread and jerk chicken lollipop appetizer to our steaks and seafood entrees. Great cocktail and dessert menu as well. While on the pricier side for some entrees, the service and quality made it worthwhile. We will be adding Whitedog toil our dining out โrotationโ.
Be the first to ReplyA perennial favorite for brunch, lunch, HH, or dinner!
My wife and I LOVE this place. We are never disappointed. On our most recent visit for lunch, our server (Katerina) was lovely. We enjoyed a bottle of Decoy, a red blend, that was perfect to sip on an overcast Friday afternoon. I have the pear salad with salmon, and my wife had the fried oyster sandwich. Both were delicious, and we left with to-go boxes.
Be the first to ReplyMICE RUNNING BELOW OUR TABLE
BAD I arrived to have dinner with my daughter in the tent in Wayne at 6pm. I arrived was seated by the draftiest area near the street. I asked to be moved closer to the building but in the tent still. I ordered truffle fries and a prosecco. I asked the waiter to tell me what the specials were. He responded heโd rather not until the other guest arrived. There was no one else in the tent, maybe a group of 4 ladies who had another waiter. I said no please tell me what the specials are. He did and placed menus on the table. Isabelle arrived and we looked at the menu and decided. Waiter promptly came back and when he heard what we were ordering told us wed been given the wrong menu. Okay then he returns with correct menus and we give him the order. As our food arrives, several mice run out to greet the waiter, they must live in a potted plant on the terrace. I could not eat and my daughter remarked that her food was not how it was characterized on the menu, a chicken dish that seemed like one piece that was as described and another in barbecue sauce. Any of this: continued gaffs by waiter and the quality of the food can be forgiven but MICE????? I donโt think so. We made the waiter aware of it and he called in the hostess who said sorry we cant do anything about it. Well this is what I am going to do. I am going to post the whole scenario on trip advisor unless you back charge the whole charade of an evening. The waiter was rude from the start, commenting that I ate my fries too fast? I could go on but the primary issue is the Vermin running beneath our feet as we eat hoping for crumbs. NO NO Thank you. Jennifer Johnson
Be the first to ReplyMake a reservation. And come back often
Had brunch here. What a treat. We were on the covered outside patio. Not yet 50 degrees and it was still special! Dahlia gave great service. We had combo of eggs Benedictโs and omelets. Every meal should start with their bread and pesto. Make a reservation! We visited our granddaughter at Villanova. If I were around here I would want to sit in every nook and corner
Be the first to ReplyWonderful White Dog
This is our second visit to White Dog and both were excellent. Recently we enjoyed a Saturday brunch on a great fall afternoon. The food was delicious and the service made for a nice experience. When in the mainline area, definitely worth a visit. DD
