Having heard about this place for a long time, I had to get in before they close for good on Friday. The pizza was excellent of course, and the sweet potatoes as well. But the venue is very cool, with lots of community type tables. It seems very odd that such a popular, quality restaurant is closing, but there are lots of rumors around this, mostly about the landlord jacking up the rent to a ridiculous amount, and wanting to sell the building. But there has also been press in the past about the owner closing another restaurant possibly in order to avoid unionization of the employees. Who knows what's really going on. But what are they going to do with the big copper pizza oven and all the other installations?
Great service, ambiance and PHENOMENAL food.
We had the Korean Sweet Potato and Amalfi Coast pizza - I can't even with all the flavors and textures! Sadly, Young Joni is closing soon but if you can finagle a reservation, do it! And, Pizzeria Lola has many of the same pizza options so if you miss out on Young Joni, run, don't walk, to Pizzeria Lola.

We were in MN for 2 nights and someone highly recommended Young Joni. I am so happy we made the 20 min drive and took a chance since we did not have a reservation. As soon as we arrived, they offered the community table which was perfect. I have been raving about the food since we left. The flavor profiles of everything were simply amazing. Every dish felt like an over achiever. Even the gem salad. We had the prawns which are not to miss and the thai sausage. The korean bbq pizza lived up to the hype. Really sad to hear this place is closing. I just hope the chef comes to LA one day!
I knew that I had to come because the Korean Chef was
I knew that I had to come because the Korean Chef was crowned a James Beard award. So, I had fairly high expectations coming in. When my friend and I walked in, we came into a fairly spacious dimly lit space with loads of people inside. We were immediately informed that there would be over 1.5hr wait for a walk-in table. We were given the option to wait for bar seating as it would probably be quicker - and surely, it was. We did have to wait quite a bit, but it was a tolerable amount of time and definitely less than what it would have taken for an actual table. My friend and I decided to share 2 pizza pies as we wanted to get a taste of two different flavors, so we eventually settled on Korean BBQ & Perfect Pickle Pie. KOREAN BBQ As it was created by a Korean chef, it definitely had true authentic Korean flavors. As a Korean myself, I was very familiar with this soy vinaigrette and have tried this on many salad before - so, it was hitting home for me. Also, you can't go wrong with the bulgogi/beef short ribs known to all those who had Korean BBQ before. The combination of the sauces that they use for this pizza is definitely very rich, full of umami. I personally enjoyed it. PERFECT PICKLE PIE This pie was a totally different flavor to the Korean BBQ. It's less rich and maybe can be overpowered or considered more bland compared to other pizza flavors. But when tried together with the BBQ, it balances out the richness of the BBQ with the more subtle/less umami flavors. This pie gives more of a tangy/sour taste that pickles provide and more of a crunch due to the chips that are added on top. The dill is present, but not overpowering. It's a nice low-key kind of taste that people who like pickles will enjoy. Overall, the flavors were very rich in every pizza pie that we had that our mouths were bursting with flavor. It was definitely the most unique pizza toppings that I've had and can see why it's so highly regarded. I can tell that they really are meticulous with their every process and that their pizza guy by the wood fire oven is expertise in what he does. My friend and I walked out quite satisfied and I was honestly more full than I expected.

I was visiting the city of Minneapolis from NYC and found this place thanks to Chatgpt. I ordered take out b/c this place was booked out for the remainder of my days in the city. I had Kbbq and Marinara pizza (both have no cheese) along with chicken wings. The kbbq pizza was 8 out of 10 and Marinara pizza was 9 out of 10. Chicken wings were 8 out of 10. All were delicious and well worth my drive out there at 9pm from my hotel. I heard that this place will be closing down in about 2 weeks due to the landlord doubling the rent. It's too bad the city will be losing one of their better restaurants...
So sad to hear this spot is closing! They have amazing
So sad to hear this spot is closing! They have amazing food-- especially the pizza. Very delicious ! Hardest part is getting a reservation and with the upcoming closure, it might be nearly impossible to get anything unless you walk in. Korean bbq pizza is amazing ! So it the umami and the chicken wings! Can't go wrong with any selection ! Ambiance is crowded, but nice !
Such a cute restaurant and so sad they are closing.
We had the korean bbq pizza and the pickle pie. Both were really good. We also had the vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and fleur de sel. All of the food was incredible! My one critique was the temperature. We went on a 90 degree day and the restaurant was extremely hot. It was not just us, the people sitting on both sides of us were also very hot. This place will definitely be missed. May have to try and sneak in one more visit before they close!

Love Young Joni! It's been a staple for us for years for birthdays and anniversaries. The pizza is delicious and the cauliflower is out of this world! The service is always top notch and friendly and the restaurant is really a beautiful space. I'll miss this restaurant when it closes in a few weeks.

Ordered: Kimchi Trio (~$13) Korean Sweet Potatoes (~$16): pickled fresno, gochugaru, bonito, charred scallion crème fraîche Grilled Chicken Wings (~$19): with salsa macha, cilantro, lime Korean BBQ Pizza (~$27): beef short rib, mozzarella, scallion, arugula, sesame, soy-chili vinaigrette Seasonal Soft Serve Ice Cream (~$10): banana flavor with vanilla swirl Aya's take: If you're reading this and get inspired, go quick because they are closing their doors on September 14! We had a late dinner reservation yet it took over 30 minutes for them to seat us because the party before us hadn't gotten up yet. 1) The staff didn't do a good job at keeping the party before us on time and 2) The staff didn't even acknowledge it when we did finally sit down. They could have offered drinks or an appetizer on the house for the inconvenience. We weren't super hungry but decided to grab a few items. The appetizers we got were solid and great for sharing; I would recommend the Grilled Chicken Wings of the 3. Super juicy and great grill char on the outside. The big winner was The Korean BBQ Pizza. It was both sweet and savory, the pizza dough was fantastic (and this is coming from a New Yorker!), and the arugula on top gave it that nice freshness. Very cool spot; I just wish they handled our reservation better.

I'm so sad when I heard this place was closing so I HAD to get here one last time to enjoy the amazing pizza! The restaurant wasn't super busy when we arrived but def was packed when we left. I love the moodiness of the place and the staff has always been super pleasant. I ordered the perfect pickle pie for my last YJ meal. This place is going to be missed so much and there is going to be a huge whole in my stomach missing. I really do hope we see a reboot somewhere else! Thanks again for providing wonderful food and service all these years
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Had an early brunch reservation. The pickle pizza was great, I also enjoyed the tavern pie. We ordered 4 pies which was probably a mistake on our end, they were great when they came out fresh but throughout the meal they started feeling a bit soggy. We also got the pork belly (not pictured) it was a bit on the fatty end. I cut off the excess fat and ate it with the fresh veggies from the Thai skewers to help give it some freshness.
Superb service.
Superb vibes. Superb pies. Superb oven-game. $5 for the selfie booth?? Overall very very good spot for brunch or, preferably, dinner.

Amazing! Got a spot at the bar and was blown away right away by the ambiance and smells. Amazing bartender, super helpful since we'd never been there. Ended up with the cauliflower and the Korean BBQ pizza. 10/10!!
Stopped by for brunch while in town for a visit.
Not crowded on a Sunday morning. Pizza crusts are nicely cooked. Both the Perfect Pickle and seasonal Zucchini pies were tasty. Kimchi trio is tasty if you want a different sort of pizza pairing. Worth checking out if in the area.
Loved my entire experience here.
I walked in solo early on a Saturday night and was able to get a seat at the bar with a great view of where the pizzas are made. The bartender was very kind and attentive. I enjoyed a glass of wine and a tavern pie on gluten free crust that was SO GOOD then I had the seasonal soft serve kiwi and vanilla swirl with olive oil and salt. It made the sweetness come out.
We went on a Saturday for lunch and ordered the Chicory
We went on a Saturday for lunch and ordered the Chicory caesar, pork belly hash and Parisienne pizza. The waitress serving us had one of the flattest affects I've ever come across in the service industry. No hello, how are you, recommendations etc. She only seemed interested in taking our order and moving on, which I found off putting and strange considering the restaurant's reputation. The salad was fine but a bit salty. The pork belly in the hash was extremely dry and the dish was underwhelming and surprisingly flavorless. The pizza was decent but definitely not something that would drive me to this establishment especially considering the other dishes and the poor service. We would have mentioned all of this to our waitress but she couldn't be bothered to check in on us. After we finished our meal she dropped off the bill without asking if we wanted anything else or how our meal was, which I found to be disappointing. Anyway, I checked Young Joni's off my list and likely won't ever return. The TC food scene has so many amazing places that I have yet to try and I'm certain are more enthusiastic for my business. It's unfortunate because I really wanted to like it, but we were definitely let down.

If I could have the Juk every single day for breakfast I would. It is absolutely my perfect breakfast meal. While it's kind of expensive I think it is worth it. I brought a friend to try it and they talk about it so often lol. My boyfriend gets the breakfast pizza and he loves it. I have also gotten pizza from here multiple times and it's always amazing. The decoration and restaurant itself is very pretty and has an open kitchen! Come try the Juk!!!!!
Loved my experience at Young Joni.
Drinks were great and the food was unique and tasty. The service was ok, but it was very busy so I understand. We had the pork ribs and pickle pizza, both were spectacular and we will definitely order again. Highly recommend this spot. Make reservations because it is very popular. Very cute inside and swanky.

Always busy, but we lucked out and were able to get a walk-in seat on a weekday evening. Pizza is good stuff, but a bit on the pricey side. If you aren't in the mood for Fish & Chips across the street, and rather have a personal sized pizza and have the cash to pay a little more than you should, this is your place.

I've been to their sister restaurant, Pizzeria Lola several times but this was my first time at Young Joni. The atmosphere in here is amazing! It's beautifully decorated, there's plenty of space, great natural lighting, and it's not too loud. We split the My Sha-Roni, Margherita, and Rise & Shine. My personal favorite was the My Sha-Roni as it was packed with toppings and wasn't too greasy, even with the pepperoni. The margherita was good but nothing outrageous. The breakfast pizza was a pleasant surprise! I didn't know what to expect from an egg pizza where the eggs weren't scrambled, but more runny, but it was actual one of the favorites from our table! I would absolutely come back here again. It was trendy and tasty.
Great food.
Great atmosphere. The cauliflower is fantastic and the Tavern Pie is a perfectly balanced pizza. Outstanding.
We finally made it to Young Joni; we had lunch reservations.
Food and drinks were good. The ambiance was great!

Young Joni in Minneapolis is a culinary gem that never
Young Joni in Minneapolis is a culinary gem that never fails to impress! I recently had the pleasure of indulging in their Korean BBQ pizza, and let me tell you, it was a pizza experience like no other. The Korean BBQ pizza at Young Joni is truly in a league of its own. The unique fusion of Korean flavors gives it a distinct and unforgettable taste that sets it apart from any other pizza I've ever tried. Each bite is bursting with flavor, leaving you craving more. One of the standout features of this pizza is the thin crust. It's so light and crispy, providing the perfect base for the explosion of flavors from the toppings. It strikes the perfect balance between chewy and crispy, elevating the pizza to new heights of deliciousness. The ambiance at Young Joni is also worth mentioning - cozy and inviting, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a casual dinner or special occasion. Overall, Young Joni is a must-visit for anyone in Minneapolis looking for an extraordinary pizza experience. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Went here for a birthday dinner and did not disappoint!
Went here for a birthday dinner and did not disappoint! Reservation did need to be made about 30 days in advance. We started with appetizers: the cauliflower and Korean sweet potatoes. These were outstanding - the sweet potatoes paired well with the creme fraiche. Our party ordered several pizzas. The La Parisienne was fantastic with some great prosciutto and arugula. I also had the Perfect Pickle pie which was my favorite - the dill makes it all the better. Service was great, even went so far to box up the pizza nicely. The restaurant is beautiful, with a large pizza oven and small bar. We will be back to check out the back bar.
