The absolute worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I want to preface this by saying I have worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years and have a true patience and understanding around the business, however this experience was so upsetting that it warrants my first ever complaint. A group of 5 girlfriends and I booked a table on a Friday night for a birthday celebration. We had never been to Ysabel and were very excited, as we had heard good things. Upon arrival, the restaurant was beautiful and definitely had a fun vibe. Our reservation was at 8, I checked in, and off the bat the hosts were not the friendliest (not rude but not welcoming), and let me know that the table would be ready soon and the rest of the party needed to he present to be sat. No problem. The rest of the part arrived at 8:10 and because they were a bit late we were understanding to the fact that our table wasn't ready. Around 8:30 we inquired about the table and they pointed to a dirty table, saying that it would be ours after it was set. Great news. However, it took another 10 minutes for that to happen, as it seemed that there were not many workers around and the ones present didn't move with much urgency. After several minutes we were greeted by our server and we did in a polite way let her know we were a little bummed about how long it took to get sat and would love to order drinks right away. No apology nor care from the server, but we were able to order drinks and food right away so we were hopeful to turn the experience around. The first round of drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive so we immediately ordered a second round in anticipation. Food started arriving shortly after in a staggered matter which we didn't mind, however there were no serving utensils and no server in sight. Not a huge deal, we used our personal utensils and enjoyed our apps. The one thing I will say, is that the food was great. Very enjoyable, and to my knowledge, the only reason anyone would ever come back. After another half hour or so without seeing our server, we ordered our dinner entrees. The timing of everything was incredibly slow and we were trying to be patient but it began feeling a little ridiculous. We ordered family style, but our entrees showed up and completely different times. One pasta here....another 10 minutes a steak....another 10 minutes another pasta dish. It was very odd especially because there were 6 pf us so sharing one dish at a time meant a tiny bite for each. Our table was full pf dirty dishes. No one offered new plates or silverware and the dishes came out again with no serving utensils...not even a steak knife for our steak. We pulled aside a busser to ask for serving utensils but gave up on that dream after several minutes. After all of our entrees were completely eaten our server comes by with serving utensils, "did you ask for utensils?". At this point it was past 10 and we were growing impatient, as we had post dinner plans for our birthday celebration. Our server asks if we want a dessert menu. We say yes. She comes back 15 minutes later asking what we would like without ever having brought the menu. Our table is FULL of dirty dishes. We end up stacking them in a corner pf the table just to get them out of the way. After finally bringing the menu, we order dessert and alert her there is a birthday girl. The dessert of course, takes a bit of time like everything else, but as we were expecting at this point. There was a candle which was great however NO spoons and NO plates. We waited for a few minutes and then had no other option than to grab a dirty fork from our previous corn dish and pass the dessert around the table. The fact that we had to eat a dessert with a dirty fork and pass it around the table to each take a bite is outrageous. We wanted to get out of there. We asked three different people for the check. Finally received it, immediately gave her the card and got out. We tipped 18 percent which was completely undeserved but we are all in the restaurant industry and felt obliged. The bill with tip was 600 dollars. I normally wouldn't mind but the service was unbelievably bad. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. Our reservation was at 8 and we left at 11. Unacceptable. The fact that my friend ate her birthday dessert with a dirty fork from a previous dish should embarrass the staff and management. I would never go back and would absolutely never recommend this place to a friend.
