Butcher & Bee Nashville Reviews from The Last Year
We had the chefs choice experience and it was amazing!
We had the chefs choice experience and it was amazing! Drinks were creative and fun. The wine selection is pretty good as well. There were carrots, whipped feta, fresh pita, pea salad, falafel, meatballs, and a few more. The dessert was outstanding as well. Service was great as well... Jake helped us at the bar. Great experience! Can't wait to come back.

Amazing experience! We had a large party for brunch and decided to get the family style option. It was incredible! We were served so much delicious food for a reasonable price. Our favorites were the avocado toast, feta cheese and pancakes. But honestly everything was delicious! The service was amazing too! We were shocked by how much food we got for our money. Definitely recommend!
Came here for brunch with my family - the food felt pretty
Came here for brunch with my family - the food felt pretty mid/nothing special for brunch, but the ambiance was really cute and the server was so sweet and nice (hence an extra star). We tried: - Whipped Feta - this was the best dish! It was so good! But the pitas were so burnt that we had to rip off half of them because they weren't edible. - Crispy Rice with Avocado and Chicken - this was okay, but an additional $2.50 for an egg and $7.00 for a tiny portion of chicken was not worth it. - Breakfast sandwich - this was solid, but nothing special. - Shakshuka - this had amazing flavor, but was way too salty that we couldn't finish it. Would be open to coming back to try the dinner menu, but wouldn't come again for brunch.
The food was amazing and it was quite the dinner experience
The food was amazing and it was quite the dinner experience sitting on the second floor. It was truly an enjoyable date night! Jared was our server and was the best!! He was so attentive, kind, and was so quick with service! He made the experience! Can't wait to come back again for more whipped feta and to try some more things on the menu!

Our meal was delicious from the bacon wrapped dates, avocado crispy rice, peas salad, to the Turkish ravioli. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary strawberry malabi dessert. We sat at the bar and were entertained by the open kitchen. The chef was available to chat with us which was fantastic! Highly recommend this restaurant! The service was excellent! You will not be disappointed!
The whipped feta is the star of the show, definitely.
Must have. The bacon wrapped dates place silver. Honorable bronze medal tie between the meatballs (taste like spicy masala) and falafel, they were both very tasty. Each of these dishes were an unexpected treat, and based on these dishes alone, I'd recommend this restaurant. However, the cocktail I had ("hard to please") tasted a bit like cough syrup, and the famous avocado crispy rice (+ added salmon) just didn't live up to the hype. Be prepared for a serious crisp - as the name implies - but not so much of a great flavor compared to the previously mentioned plates. It's the thing to get here, apparently, but just didn't taste right. It also took quite a while to receive this entree - whereas the other dishes came out at a more reasonable paced. The desserts were fine. We had the strawberry malabi. I enjoyed the texture. It was light - fruity. We also had the chocolate layer cake, which the waiter highly recommended. Highly recommend you be a decadent chocolate lover if you order this.. if not, it might be just a little too much for you. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit based on the mezze dishes alone! Plus the waiters were very friendly, and it was a beautiful ambiance. But bring a coat, it gets a little chilly in the restaurant.
Such a vibey place! Recommend! Ambiance is incredible, we
Such a vibey place! Recommend! Ambiance is incredible, we ate indoors and loving all the moody vibes leathers industrial sorta whimsical atmosphere! Service was great! Our server was friendly and paid attention to the details making sure our waters and coffees were full and gave such great input / info about the menu! Food yes yes yes!! All of it! You literally cannot go wrong with anything on the menu and I love the family meal option to try all the things. My husband and I split the short stack and the breakfast sandwich. Both were phenomenal and absolutely recommend. The potatoes have seasoning and are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside yummmm! The bread on the breakfast sandwich had such a great flavor and texture. Same with the pancakes the sweet and salty. I think I got a bite with salt? But the flavor and texture of the pancakes were incredible. Mouth watering good.... We had great company as well which just amped it all up.
LOVED my dinner at Butcher & Bee! This place has great
LOVED my dinner at Butcher & Bee! This place has great reviews for a reason! First off, the space is so cool! Really beautifully decorated with a ton of plants and fun vintage store decor. I sat upstairs and loved the ambiance. My friend and I decided to do the chef tasting and the waitress was really helpful- she explained how it worked and made recommendations on what to order based off of our taste preferences. I would definitely return and do it again because I felt like the price was right and everything tasted delicious. I enjoyed the cocktails as well and will definitely recommend this to friends when they come to visit Nashville!
Sitting in East Nashville on Main Street, Butcher & Bee is
Sitting in East Nashville on Main Street, Butcher & Bee is pretty unassuming from the exterior. A painted brick building and a box sign is all you get...then you walk in and are immediately transported to a vibey, industrial, new age and uniquely local restaurant that features 1.5 stories of dining space, a bar, open kitchen and great outdoor dining space! This space combined with the amazing cocktails, phenomenal food and great service made for a phenomenal night out! Dinner is served tapas/small plate style, so we opted for a few things off the starters and then one shared plate, and it turned out to be the perfect amount of food. We started with the whipped feta and meatballs. Now if you take one thing from my review, please let it be the whipped feta! It was AMAZING! Meatballs were tender and doused in a curry based sauce that gave them a little kick, so keep the drinks close. For the shared plate we opted for the fried avocado rice with shawarma chicken. It was delightful, but also had a bit of a kick as well! Luckily they seem to know, so they leave you a bottle of water on the table at all times. While the food is certainly enough to bring us back, the open concept, including the kitchen, was such a cool experience. We were lucky enough to belly up to the bar looking into the kitchen and it was really cool to see all the happenings and magic they are creating! Oh, quick tip, make a reservation. Overall, Butcher & Bee has officially made it into the top 10 spots for us in Nashville. Looking forward to coming back many times!
Disingenuous Menu!
We were steered into ordering the "FAMILY STYLE" brunch plate for $35, consisting of several half-orders. Seemed like a good choice for just the two of us, fewer than a "FAMILY." The small plates were delicious, but with 2 coffees the bill came to $114! Upon close examination we had been charged for (2) "FAMILY STYLE" orders plus each of the individual items at their a la carte prices. After objecting, we had the a la carte items removed, but we were also shown that on the menu under the large bold print "FAMILY STYLE" there was in very small extra light print: "minimum 2." Got 'cha! Very good food but with a willfully misleading menu and way overpriced for those small plates.
Small Portions, Lackluster Food, Slow Service
Dined here with friends who are locals. They had been here before and spoke very highly of this restaurant. We were a party of four. Unfortunately, most small plates are made for three, so we added additional food for each plate. With the exception of the whipped feta (served with pita) and the bacon wrapped dates, the other small plates were very bland, lacked any real flavor and we found the portions to be very small - literally one small forkful for each one of us. We then ordered three main dishes. The first one came out, followed 10 minutes later by the second dish. At this point, we told our server to box up the third dish (which had yet to arrive). The only main dish I tasted was the chicken which was exceptionally dry and tasteless even though it was smothered in harissa. Service was very slow. It seems this place is understaffed as it was very difficult to get the attention of our server on multiple occasions. The atmosphere is dark and quite loud. Had difficulty holding a conversation with my table mates due to the noise level. I left here so hungry I had to stop for a slice of pizza on the way home - as did my friends.
So hard to review.
Some things were really good, some were ok. We had the whipped feta with pita which was excellent. The glazed carrots were average. The avocado crispy rice was good but a little too salty. Chicken was delicious. Grilled oyster mushrooms had too much balsamic. The chocolate Malabi was delicious. Our server was really great but gave us the check before we were served dessert which really surprised me. That's never happened at any higher end restaurant I've ever been to. She wasn't pushy about it but should never have given it to us before dessert. Made us feel like we were being rushed out - and we were definitely not overstaying our visit.
It's just too expensive for what you get.
My husband and I had dinner here tonight. The pictures on their website show much more food on the plates than we had. 3 scallops for $30.00?! And they were cold. A handful of gnocchi for $26.00. The dessert we had was the best value.
Great vibe, matched with excellent food and service
My wife and I went for dinner a few days before Thanksgiving. We sat at the bar along the kitchen. While we typically would prefer a table, these seats were nice to take in the wood burning grill and all the hustle and bustle of kitchen. An added, plus, a few times the wait/chef staff gave us a few "freebies" to try out. We loved all the food was terrific. We ordered the Chef's choice and asked for GF for my wife and no beef for me...no issue at all. We especially liked the avocado crispy rice. The wine list is small, yet interesting. The mixed drinks are also excellent. We will happily return next time we are in Nashville.
Perfect Saturday Morning
Wonderful. The best meal we had in Nashville. We enjoyed sitting in the back garden on a beautiful sunny day. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable and never made us feel rushed. Everything we ate and shared was exceptional. Delicious espresso martini.
Chef’s Choice Dinner was a great choice for dinner!
Wonderful experience. We had the chef’s choice dinner and it was amazing. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The flavors in each dish were excellent and perfectly balanced. We couldn’t decide which dish was our favorite.
We recommend
We wanted to eat a little something and got a seat at the bar. The bartender suggested two dishes and we were totally impressed, absolutely delicious and great taste.
Great experience
Fantastic experience, we selected the chef choice and it exceed our expectations. Very well thought mix of flavors. The service was spectacular as well. Not overwhelming, not lagging, just perfect. Make reservations to make sure you make it. If you stop by Nashville or you live there, don’t miss it. Very good!!!
Mediterranean brunch East Nashville
Wonderful Mediterranean brunch. Food was delicious and inventive. Plenty of vegetarian options. Friendly service and cool decor. Especially recommend the whipped feta, avocado crispy rice and the veggie breakfast scramble.
Delicious, unusual, fun food and drink options
My girlfriends and I had a fun night at Butcher. The drinks were phenomenal and the food was consistently excellent. I'd been to the one in Charleston several times and this one is very similar but different enough you won't be bored coming here too. Our server was perfect. Highly recommend going with friends who like to share!
