Celestine Brooklyn Reviews from The Last Year
Overall 3/5
I chose this location because of the view and good reviews in general, wanted to have a great birthday dinner and I did book a table outside at the patio area. There were a lot of bugs and it was impossible to seat outside for a dinner. Also chairs very uncomfortable. The indoor dining area was perfect. Very nice atmosphere and great service. Hostesses were not nice at all. The manager was very kind and helpful. Overall I would give it a 3/5
For our anniversary dinner, we decided to dine at Celestine.
Since it's the middle of summer, we booked a table on the patio to enjoy the Al Fresco dining. The restaurant was quite busy on Friday night. The vibe was casual, and the entire restaurant had glass walls that provided an amazing view of the East River, Brooklyn Bridge, and the breathtaking skyline of Manhattan. The menu consisted of one page for food and another for drinks. We started with a bottle of Rosé and ordered mezze, which included hummus, flatbread, and braised lamb croquettes since the cuisine was Mediterranean. The appetizers were flavorful and came in good portions. For our main course, I ordered the pork porterhouse served with watercress, mustard, and pickled garlic, while my partner chose the trout with cucumber and raita. Unfortunately, we had to return the trout as it was undercooked. We didn't make a big deal out of it, but we were slightly disappointed and took a star off for that. Overall, the experience was mostly positive. The staff were genuinely attentive and friendly. However, we felt that the prices were a bit on the high side for what was offered.
Great view! Very underwhelming food and poor service.
And expensive too. I hate that. The short rib ragu rigatoni barely had any short ribs mostly roasted peppers. Thought it was a vegetarian dish. Worst phoned-in panna cotta I've ever had. Left hungry and bummed out. Another reason to not eat out.
Overall Mixed Experience at Celestine I've visited
Overall Mixed Experience at Celestine I've visited Celestine numerous times, and it remains my go-to spot whenever I have guests in town--all thanks to the breathtaking view! Ambiance Celestine's ambiance is truly defined by its stunning view. The restaurant faces the Brooklyn Bridge and the serene waters, offering a picturesque backdrop that's particularly spectacular during summer when the terrace is open. Sipping a glass of wine while soaking in the view always leaves my friends/family in awe. Food The menu at Celestine is Mediterranean, featuring a variety of dishes that have seen some changes over time, especially among the main courses. - Mezze Platter: A flavorful assortment, but be warned -- it's loaded with garlic and crispy shallots. While delicious, the excessive garlic left me feeling parched and somewhat unwell afterward. I've regretted ordering it on multiple occasions due to this overpowering amount of garlic. - Gem Salad: Unfortunately, this dish is rather unremarkable. I wouldn't recommend it as it lacks the special touch one might expect. - Carrots: These are a standout! Deliciously prepared and a definite highlight of the menu. - Strip Steak: A disappointment. The meat was dry and lacked flavor, certainly not worth the high price tag. - Branzino: Delightfully prepared and highly recommended. It's a dish that truly shines among the whole menu (together with the carrots). Service Service at Celestine is inconsistent. On one visit, it was subpar, while on another, it was satisfactory but not exceptional. Given the high prices, there's certainly room for improvement in attentiveness and overall service quality. Overall Impression Celestine is ideal for impressing visitors with its stunning view. However, the menu could use some refinement, and the service staff would benefit from more thorough training. Despite these issues, it remains a lovely spot to enjoy the scenery. My last visit for a party of three totaled around $500, which felt steep considering the mixed quality of the food and service.
Perfect view of Manhattan Bridge, with nice outdoor seating
Perfect view of Manhattan Bridge, with nice outdoor seating area. Attentive and helpful service (offered to charge phone that's low on battery). Recommend ordering all the appetizers and a few mains/sides to share, instead of ordering individual mains to sample all the delicious food!

Came here for my birthday, very accommodating although it's really hard to get through to talk to them on the phone. The food was excellent! wish they had more options but what they had was great! The ambiance was wonderful, and we had a table overlooking the bridge! love how intimate of a space it was, great places to take pictures outside. overall great location, great food, & great service!
I do enjoy going to Celestine.
It's convenient and the restaurant setting itself is really lovely. Modern, yet warm and inviting. Walls of glass all around highlighting the majestic views of the city and the DUMBO waterfront, especially at sunset. I've dined here over five times and will continue to return. We have been for dinners and also attended their Thanksgiving a few years ago. The service is good, the food is hit or miss. Usually we go with large groups and order a ton of dishes. One or two are standout, the rest are a bit flat. The kitchen makes silly mistakes like overcooking or underseasoning. For the premium prices, that really shouldn't be happening. If you rank location and vibe above price and consistency, I would recommend them. Who knows... you might just order the standout dishes that are done perfectly and have the perfect night.

Standard Mediterranean fare, done well, with seamless service. Ingredients were fresh and seasonal, was clear to notice. Menu is small but done well. Intimate ambiance.

In my old age (36), I've developed a set of criteria for brunch places, one that probably knocks out most hype beasts. My root philosophy is that brunch is best used for catching up with friends. NYC, please give the frenetic energy the morning off and serve me a soothing balm for my fevered soul. Back to the brunch spot: it has to take reservations, and it can't hustle people out of their tables after 90 minutes. The vibes need to be calm, maybe even lethargic. The food should be serviceable but doesn't need to knock my socks off; eggs and toast are not going to change the world. A view or some vibes are an added bonus. From my perspective, Celestine nails all the things I consider essential in a brunch spot. First, there's that million-dollar view. There's not a bad seat in the house; you're guaranteed a panorama of either the Brooklyn or Manhattan Bridge, and possibly both. The menu and the space both feel comfortably small; not too many options, not too cramped. The food leans Mediterranean; the mezze appetizer plate my friends and I shared was excellent. You won't find instagrammable novelties like Thai Diner's French toast under the mains, but my pancakes were delicious. My friends fought over the burger and mortadella sandwich, and portions were hearty. A nice selection of cocktails and wines complemented the food. No line out the door, very solid food, nothing but tranquility and good vibes. I think Celestine is my ideal.
Can't speak on the food because we didn't even make it that
Can't speak on the food because we didn't even make it that far. We walk in with a group of 5 and we see another group of about 8 waiting. They had opened 20 minutes prior to us arriving so we were pretty shocked to see the workers moving about and passing us by with not one acknowledgment. Not one. My sister was not going to have that type of treatment no matter the view or how expensive it is. Needless to say this establishment lost good customers and a Yelp elite reviewer simply because the half dozen or so employees who clearly saw us gave us no indication that we would be helped anytime soon. Their loss.
Dinner under the Manhattan Bridge
Local in the immediate vicinity of the Manhattan Bridge. Stunning view from the room as well as obviously along the road. For this reason, dinner is recommended. Original but not exceptional dishes. Friendly staff and average prices.

Celestine, a fun little brunch spot in DUMBO! Made a reservation a week in advance (highly recommended) and was blown away by this cute little place. My boyfriend has been to Celestine a number of times, however, this was his first time dining for brunch and we were both not disappointed. The vibes are incredible and the views of the Manhattan Bridge are breathtaking! The service was on point and very attentive. The food was incredible! (See Below for what we indulge in): Appetizer: Mezze Platter (the baba ganoush was out of this world!) Main Dishes: Shakshuka (you can never go wrong with this dish! The eggs were perfect) Mortadella Sandwich (my boyfriend said the sandwich changed his life and that it was so elevated) Side: French fries (so so so good! Cooked to perfection) The only thing that I did not like was the fact that everything came out at once and we were overwhelmed. Would definitely come back to Celestine for dinner, such a wonderful spot!

At Celestine, you'll love the setting and of course the view right away. You are looking right over to Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan. It's amazing! I had the citrus salad which was delicious and beautiful. The wine gave us some trouble as we ordered and two came to taste. They were switched so we couldn't figure which was which anymore and were given the wrong one at the end. Apart from that, it's a very nice place for a romantic dinner.

gorgeous views and ambiance would have been nice except that the place was large and echo-y; my friend and I could barely hear one another at brunch. Food was fine, not superlative - try it out by all means (or find someplace a bit more quiet and not as pricy).

Celestine is a classy gem in Dumbo located on the water with amazing views. I went with two of my girlfriends, good cocktails and wine selection. The mezze appetizer was great- esp the pistachio based dip and the flatbread. For my entree I got the wagyu steak and it was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. One drawback was the restaurant seemed short staffed so service was slower than expected.
Sampled a huge portion of the menu here.
Celestine is excellent. There is also a beautiful view from the back patio.

Celestine is under the Manhattan Bridge and right on the water providing diners with amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan and the East River. The cocktails, service and wine list are all excellent. The food is very good although clearly not the main attraction. Certainly an enjoyable evening.
Disappointed
The location is absolutely gorgeous concerning the view and the staff was very friendly - so two stars . But the food was ridiculously little . Tiny pasta portion , 3 scallops , one oyster per person planned … for 180.- And we have made a reservation for our 10 people group months before asking for a candle or something like that as my daughter had birthday on 01/01… nothing . We would have expected more reading all these reviews .

Lovely place to enjoy a light brunch with a spectacular view of the city. Would definitely recommend the white fish and egg on toast. The labneh was nice, but the restaurant charges extra for the accompanying flatbread. Overall, we had a great experience here!
Not quite ready for prime time
Nice lively dinner spot- unfortunate that configuration of seating only allows 2/3 tables to enjoy the river view- the rest are cramped together- Food is very good and prices decent- nice waitstaff-?nothing special- would not recommend
Great spot with views of the city.
Solid food for the price and a nice addition to DUMBO
Beautiful locations not good food
My husband and I went for dinner on a Monday night. Beautiful location but that’s about it! We ordered the ceasar salad, sent it back! The dressing was so bitter from so much garlic we couldn’t eat it! They brought us a plain one with dressing on the side it was better. My husband ordered the lobster pasta and it was great, I ordered the pork and it was terrible. It was fried pork cutlet like snitzell, over cooked and dry! Not good! Would not recommend this restaurant ! Service was very good, it wasn’t his fault the kitchen wasn’t sending out good food!
Beautiful view!!!
We made a reservation for Saturday Brunch! We arrived in advance and they accommodated us immediately. The restaurant is relatively small, so I suggest making a reservation. The view is beautiful, you can see both bridges (Brooklin and Manhattan). We ordered burgers, they were delicious! I recommend visiting especially for the view!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
