Cosmopolitan Hotel and Restaurant San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
They LIe big time.
They lie big times. Was told could check in at around 10 AM to get parking permit. We arrived at 10:00 A M and this place is not even open. every door is locked. Made call to them. was told by not friendly manager that they did not open until 3:30 P M. Told him I had arrangement that they agree to get permit to park at 10 A M. Made another call to them and said I was 82 years of age and could not sit around for 5 house to check in. So canceled reservation. Manager said he could not refund money paid. Reservation was made for the 23 yet they charge my card on the 19th. Most hotel only charge your card after you checked out. I check there post on yelp and it shows they are closed on Sunday Monday and Tuesday. So how is it I was able to get a room... Just to let you know this place is in an area called old town San Diego. Nothing bur a bunch of shops. Big time tourist trap. Not a place would like to see anyone go to. I going to have to file a complaint with others to get my money back for they where un able or willing to accomadate me.
You definitely want to stay here.
It's so wonderful here. Authentic and cozy, with super friendly and helpful staff. It feels like a great escape from the world. Will definitely be coming back with my family. The area around the hotel also has a lovely, walkable historic district. Highly recommend!
I will stay here again.
An interesting hotel and a great way to experience the history of early San Diego. The room was comfortable and provided all I needed. They have chairs and a table outside each room on the veranda, which is a great place to watch the goings and comings of Old Town. The staff were very nice, the location is an easy walk to historic sites, shopping and restaurants. You also have the trolly station near by. A short drive to the airport, Balboa Park and other SD attractions. This will be where I stay on my next visit to San Diego.
Great Gem in the middle of Old Town San Diego
This was a wonderful historic hotel in the heart of old town. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful. The manager was friendly and was full of information about the property. Beds were comfortable. I’ll be returning for sure.
Bucket List Experience
We can’t say enough nice things about our stay at the Cosmopolitan this week! We stayed two nights in room 4/5 to celebrate my birthday. The bed was super comfy and the room was spacious and bright. It felt so peaceful and relaxing, it was hard to imagine that ghosts could ever be there, but we were hoping nevertheless that we would experience a haunting of some kind. Dee, the manager, was extremely informative and helpful. He texted me the day of the stay and gave me a number to call when we arrived at the parking lot. He then met us at the gate and checked us in and showed us to the room. We enjoyed meeting the other guests in the breakfast room each morning and sharing experiences. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as we were. As we were getting close to checkout time we were lamenting that we had not experienced anything definitely out of the ordinary. There was something with the shower curtain, but that was a toss up as to whether or not it could be explained. Then just as we were leaving the overhead light fixture started flickering. It was if the room, or some friendly entity, was saying goodbye. Bottom line, we had a great time and will definitely be back!!
A wonderful and unique experience.
My experience was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful with advice for getting around town and seeing great sites. I highly recommend this hotel experience. Staying right in Old Town with museums, shops and restaurants was convenient and added to the atmosphere.
Very bad experience trying to find someone.
When I booked it said that it had a restaurant and bar. Not only did it not have them, there was no TV to watch. The wifi was too weak to stream anything. I paid $163 and didn't even spend the night. Iwas extremely upset. When I arrived all of the doors were locked and nobody around. I went across a court yard to an informatio booth. That guy took me to a restaurant and had someone come over to get me. What a joke.
Historic and Pleasant Stay in Old Town
If you are into historic places you will love the Cosmopolitan. Arrival was a little puzzle. All doors are closed . I called the manager, Dee, on my cell phone and he said a woman will open up for us. We waited at the front (right side of picture) and the problem was that the entry was on the other side which is a gate. We checked in and Dee took us to our room. We have stayed in many historic inns in California, mainly in the Gold Country, and our room was very spacious (Room 10) compared to the usual historic buildings. It is wheelchair accessible, even though that was not needed by us. There is frequent train horns throughout the night, but we didn't find that to be disturbing as we like the sound. They serve a continental breakfast that one find not adequate if they are used to larger American breakfasts. It included muffins, yogurt, bagels, apples, and 2 cereals. On the second morning we walked over to the Old Town Cafe (10 minute walk) for chiliquiles. This is our favorite breakfast place in San Diego. The only problem we ran into was that we asked Dee to bring ice to our room which he said he would do, but that did not happen. No big deal for us. The location of the hotel in the middle of Old Town State Park was a plus for us. It is pleasant to stroll around the area after dark when the crowds are gone.
Take a stroll into history!
A very comfortable and interesting experience. Very old school. Incredible tub and super comfy bed. Quiet and enjoyable! I highly recommend the hotel for those who are looking for something different from the typical Marriott experience. Right in the middle of all the Old Town attractions. Nice restaurants and bars!
Unique Historic Hotel
Did we enjoy our stay. Yes, for sure. But, my rating is relative to the type of property this is. This is a vintage, historic hotel, located in Old Town. I believe the building has it's roots in the 1800's. Yes, it's lacking many features found in most modern hotels. Things such as a normal shower (shower hose provided in clawfoot tub), TV, chairs in the room, etc. However, if you like historic hotels (I do), and like Old Town (I do), you'll enjoy this place and forgive the lack of standard amenities. Each room in this museum-like hotel is different. I only saw two rooms, ours and my daughter's room. So I can only review these two rooms. I actually loved the clawfoot tub, since I grew up with these back in the day in Detroit. The room we stayed in only had a single chair and there are two of us. We did however pull one of the wooden chairs on the veranda into the room, so we did end up with two chairs (our daughter's room had extra seating). Obviously, the location right inside Old Town is a huge plus. The courtyard in the center of the property is a wonderful place to enjoy coffee in the morning, a glass of wine later in the day, or just to sit and relax anytime. Being in San Diego, the courtyard has plenty of vegetation to make it feel cozy (a nice treat for us desert dwellers). The veranda is also a pleasant place to spend time. Being on the second floor, you have somewhat of a view. I have to point out that part of that view includes I-8, but you can always look in a different direction. You can't hear the freeway traffic in the room, at least in ours. The restaurant on the property closed during the pandemic. Not sure when it's going to reopen. They do provide a continental breakfast, which could stand some improvement. For example, the bagels provided are of the small, crumbly type that barely deserve to be called bagels. It's not all bad however. The coffee is actually quite good. I've been a coffee roaster for over 5 years and I've become used to dreadful coffee at most restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the coffee here. The orange juice is also good. Part of what made our stay so pleasant was our interaction with Dee. He was the only staff member we really talked to (starting with our check-in) the entire time we were there, but he is a really nice guy. He is more than willing to help out if you have any issues during your stay and he's a very interesting guy to talk to (assuming you like people, I do). He even gave me a tour of part of the hotel not normally open to guests (super interesting if you like historic buildings). I consider him to be a real plus to staying at this hotel. I do hope he's still there when we return. The price we paid to stay here was very reasonable considering this is San Diego, and the hotel is right inside of Old town. Would I stay here again? Yes, for sure. So, if you enjoy vintage hotels, are a fan of Old Town, and like San Diego's wonderful weather, you'll enjoy staying here.
Great stay in Old Town
Great location in Old Town. The building is beautiful with outdoor atmosphere. The room was comfortable and the linens were nice. The shower had great pressure. Highly recommend staying here at the Cosmopolitan

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
