🤢 2/5 - Disappointed

I have been a dedicated patron since the days they were in Putney and always sang their praises but last night I’m afraid all that changed. The service was very good (although one of the waiters kept knocking, gently mind you, my back when walking by) the attention from the legendary Mr Turi and wife was fine, but I’m afraid the food, the main reason we kept coming back, was a real disappointment. The meat my wife had was lovely, (£45!!) perfectly cooked and tender but vaguely surrounded by uncooked potatoes! My agnolotti “del Plin” a total disappointment, tiny hard parcels of pasta with a tasteless filling that I had with a sprinkling of bianchetto truffle (10.50!) also rather tasteless in an improbable mush of buttery water was not worth eating (grateful for not having been charged!), the ravioli, frankly average @£25.50 that replaced them were also nothing to boast about. And three slices of quite nice Parma ham @£28.50 (!), a small burrata @£19.50 plus’s some rather lovely and well paired wines (total of 6 glasses and not from anywhere near the high end of the well stocked cellar) added to the list, brought a bill of £310.22 Now I have eaten beautifully at a few places in and outside London with or without Michelin stars but rarely have I been shocked at a bill usually commensurate to the quality of the food and the service. It’s a great pity that what used to be my favourite Italian restaurant in London has become this: an overpriced, overrated frankly mediocre place where the best things are the service (4*) and the (overpriced) wine list (5*).
