Frenchie Pigalle Paris Reviews
I have wanted to go to Frenchie for years.
I finally snagged a reservation and this was the #1 restaurant I was the most excited to visit. We only ate at Michelin restaurants for the 11 days we were there and as the days went on, this one went farther down the list. Unfortunately for us, it offers just an OK experience. While the ambiance is charming and the service is generally attentive, the food falls short of expectations. We were rushed in and rushed out with no time to linger. The menu lacks creativity and the execution of dishes is inconsistent. Some items were enjoyable, but others are underwhelming or downright inedible. My daughter and I couldn't even finish the kiwi desert. Additionally, the prices are steep considering the overall experience. Overall, Frenchie is an okay choice for a meal in Paris, but there are way better options available in the city and I will never be back.
Nice restaurant, but...
The restaurant is nice, the decor is neat, but unfortunately it was much too hot and we weren't the only ones to notice it (the heat came from the kitchen), and the service was unnecessarily pushy. The cuisine is refined, modern and very balanced (salt and sugar). We had mains and desserts and the quantities were reasonable. The wine list is interesting. We will come back to this if this temperature problem can be resolved.
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant and my review
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant and my review may be an unpopular opinion but wanted to share to help guide others when deciding between the numerous dining options while in Paris. (This was our first dinner when we landed in Paris.) First, the food - the execution on some of the dishes were a miss. I abide by the 3 strikes rule of thumb when visiting a "fine dining" restaurant, and this restaurant struck out. Strike 1 - there was a tendril of hair in my partner's first dish (my partner didn't mind - it was very small and relatively on the outer sauced portion of the dish and we didn't bring it to our server's attention). Strike 2 - there was a bone in my partner's fish dish. Again, a minor blip and we didn't mention it to our server. Strike 3 - in the same fish dish in which there was a bone missed on my partner's plate, parts of my fish were undercooked or raw. This we did bring to our server's attention, and she said it was supposed to be cooked this way. (Photo included.) That being said, all of the dishes were delicious. The service was friendly and serviceable. However, there was a rather awkward moment at the end of our meal when it came to pay which put a damper on an already underwhelming experience. While handing us the electronic tablet to pay, the server let us know that, while tip was not expected and we were not obligated, we had the option of leaving a tip. The server then stood by as we selected an option. From my recollection, the options on the tablet ranged in percentages, e.g., 10, 15, etc. Our understanding was that France already has a 15% service charge bill built into the restaurant prices - btw, we did leave a tip - and this was confirmed by the subsequent restaurants we went to. (FYI, none of the other restaurants we visited had a tip option on their tablets - and one 3-starred Michelin restaurant we went to subsequently confirmed that no French restaurant should ask for a tip because service charge is built in.) When we went during dinner service, all the tables / customers were American, so I can't say whether tip is only asked of from non-natives. It could be that we visited on an off night. But there's no shortage of great restaurants in Paris and based on our first visit here, I think trying out another restaurant in this price range would be a more enjoyable dining experience.
Awesome !! Nothing. Say it again, we'll come back often
Great lunchtime formula at an unbeatable price for the quality of the products from the service of the place and the district, the chef already present at the trail is exported wonderfully this evening to Paris or Biarritz!! Congratulations to the whole team
Disappointing
We had a really disappointing experience. We waited for 25 minutes to be spoken to once sat and we had an apologetic measly pour of house fizz for the wait. We then tried to order food after another 20 minute wait and we were told they were out of the dishes we wanted. So we ordered a few small ones as a must and some wine. The wine never came, we waited for even water and nothing. The food came and we asked for our drinks and nothing. We then finished our 2 small plates and we still had no wine or water. When the manager tried to come over with wine we told him not to bother and asked for the cheque. I asked him ‘would you be happy if you came to eat here with a friend or a partner? Would you be happy with the service and the price?’ He did not answer. That says it all. Our meal was still €30 each. For one small plate each. Don’t waste time or money on this disorganise, uncommunicative and quite frankly oblivious restaurant. (Written by me, a restaurant manager)

IF you happen to be traveling to Paris, do yourself the biggest favor and reserve a seat at Frenchie. Reservations are a must as it books quickly, so get one once it becomes available. The restaurant itself is small and intimate with staff readily available, present and there for whatever you may need. With each dish, they explain exactly what you'll be eating, how it is prepared, and even thought behind the dish Speaking of the dishes, there is no set menu, so you won't know what you're getting prior to arrival. You won't even know when you're sitting down. You aren't able to order individual items, it is a pre-fixe menu determined by the chef on that day, so each day may be a completely different meal. You'll know what you're eating when it arrives at the table and the server explains it to you. Rest assured, each dish is well thought out, from the textures on each bite to the flavor profiles melding together in your mouth. Even the difference in temperature of different items on the plate pairing together in the mouth and how that plays it with the complexity of each bite. It's just so very good, something to savor with each course. Such a wonderful meal, phenomenal chef and amazing experience. Definitely a must try when in Paris

We came here for a date night while we were in Paris, and had an absolutely amazing dinner. As you probably know, this is a pre fixe only restaurant, but they have across the street an area where you can get wine and snacks. We did the main restaurant, the prefix menu. It is a five course meal with an additional two or three courses that are not counted as part of the five. You can do a basic wine pairing for €70 or an elite wine pairing for 115. We opted for the higher level and we did not regret it. The meal itself was €140 per person, and honestly was worth every penny. The five courses were a scallop dish, a vegetable ravioli, a skate fish, a rabbit, and a kiwi dessert. The service, as you can, imagine, was absolutely stellar. The staff were kind, spoke perfect English, and super helpful. The entire meal took just over two hours and was absolutely an incredibly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this for a nice dinner out if you are in Paris.

Excellent food and service! This was one of our high points while in Paris. The staff made our visit extra special!
Let's all say it together.
The service and food are amazing. We were treated to a spectacular meal during our stay in Paris. I can't say enough about how well-prepared each dish was! The wine pairing was spot on too! Don't waste your time looking at "additional" options. You simply must get a reservation and treat yourself to a delicious experience! The space allows for plenty of room to have a wonderful dining experience. Don't hesitate... make the booking a soon a you can!!! Thank you to the wonderful front-of-the-house staff!
Nice address
Friendly place Menu with a good choice of original starters but difficult to share despite the waiter's suggestions! Pork ribs to share, very expensive for the quantity served (8 slices of pork) and tasteless… too bad Banofi as a delicious dessert
Plucked
40 euros for three slices of loin, also mediocre. A menu with two courses. How can it be on the Michelin guide?? Left plucked and hungry
Good food, good wines, poor coordination of the service with the kitchen
Inventive cuisine, in a nice setting. A good choice for our post-theater dinner. (Play was "Oubliez-moi" at The Theatre de la Bruyère ... Our (young) waitress was courteous, professional - she said she was a Parisian by birth .... there goes the stereotype. The head waitress on the other hand seemed a bit snotty ... when being self assured borders on arrogance, that's not a good recipe for a friendly welcome and atmosphere. The coordination and timing between the kitchen and the service in the "salle" was "off" - we ordered three dishes to share between the two of us and they all arrived at the same time. We sent the pappardelle back ... and were happy we did (we did not get the same ones re-heated when they reappeared 10 minutes later ... ). All three dishes were quite good. Good wines by the glass (small glasses though ;-( ... ). Reservations recommended.
Mediocre food
The service is very poor for a restaurant that claims quality service. Very limited menu of dishes and wine. For the 4 dishes offered on the menu we waited 3 hours to be served??!! Little understanding from the staff who were also quite aggressive in view of the situation. We quickly understood that these are not restaurateurs but great amateurs who know how to speak "English". It's very disappointing quality/price/for a mediocre duck breast at 35 euros! We are in France, catering is a profession that must be respected! What a shame ! You must abstain!!!

David's pastries and croissants hold up to anything I've had in France or Italy. His cold brew is so good I drink it Year round.
The food and service were good.
No huge complaint. Not the worst meal I have had abd the best. I would give it 4.5 stars if I had that option.
Amazing place
The dinner was perfect. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful. Strongly recommend this place.
Really nice ambience.
. nice, casual, yet upscale feel. We sat at the bar so could see all of the intricate food prep! All of the dishes were beautifully presented & tasted great. They even offered gluten free bread to my friend who has a gluten intolerance. Great service, great food, great ambience.. what more do you need?! To get a reservation you need to be on their site right at 10 am (Paris time) 3 weeks in advance.

Réservations are a MUST! We booked 3 weeks to the day when that day was opened. Had the second seating so we went across the street for a couple of glasses of champagne before we were seated. The tasting menu rotates seasonally so I wont go into the dishes but each dish was prepared superbly. We did the accompanying wine pairs and it was all excellent. Definitely fine dining with a bit more casual atmosphere. This was our favorite dinner of the trip.

I don't like make reviews on places that I don't like but you have to post the good with the bad. And unfortunately this was not good. Walking in the strong smell of cheese was unpleasant to the senses. Which should have been enough for our group to walk out but we attempted the food anyway. The onion tart was the only decent meal on the table. Everyone was so disappointed I didn't even take photos. The steak wasn't good, the potato pancakes were soft and mushy and the chicken cordon blue was cover in the unpleasant smelling cheese which also did not taste good. Our server was pleasant but had no insight into the disappointment the entire table was experiencing.
DELICIOUS GEM! Make a Reservation!
The food was AMAZING! I sat at the bar because I was solo and didn’t have a reservation. It ended up being a treat for me, because I was able to chat with the chef and watch him create his incredible cuisine! Make sure you make a reservation!!
You've heard things about this place.
Dirty, dirty things. And those rumors were very well founded. This place ends up doing things to you that you've never experienced in your life: easily one of the best dining experiences you've ever had. This place only does a tasting menu: 5 courses, but you know right away that was a fucking lie.Amuse Bouche: a trio. A "bao" of Roquefort cheese and a sour cherry, a mini tart of apple and celery, and a prepared oyster with cauliflower espuma (foam). Your mouth is very amused.Course #1. Foie Gras with bok choy, snow pea, charred broccoli, and blood orange segements. The richness of the foie perfectly balanced by the vegetables. A great start. The rustic white with orange rind in it helps bring this all together.Course #2. Langostino tortellini with citrus and a langostino broth. Your mind is reeling from how perfectly prepared and perfectly balanced this dish is. You lick the last drops of broth off of your mistress' boot. The 2010 white wine paired with this exquisite.Course #3. Scallops with a purée of kale and a coffee vinegar. (Side note: the coffe used was the same coffee mentioned in Coffee Porn #5). The scallop is perfectly firm yet soft in your mouth. The balance struck between kale and coffee is mind boggling. The Grand Cru Riesling from Alsace finished with notes of ginger at the end? Phenomenal.Course #4. Lamb 2 ways: A mini lamb loin on the bone and a lamb tenderloin stuffed with nuts and citrus finished with a lamb jus. The Syrah paired with the lamb beautifully.Secret Course #1: mini pita with braised lamb and crema. Arguably better than the amazing lamb dish you just had.Secret Course #2: cheese course. Specifically, a triple cream brie with apple and a Brie foam with pomegranate seeds. Incredibly inventive and successful way to serve cheese.Course #5. Chocolate cake with an avocado cream and mango tuiles. The chocolate: dark and rich. The avocado breaks up the richness while the mango's sharpness balances the whole thing.Secret Course #3. Apricot gelée candy piece, chocolate caramel chew, and chocolate piece. You knew these sneaky fuckers weren't sticking to 5 courses. This meal was the perfect balance of excellent service, perfectly prepared and executed food, and the perfect amount of food. Truly one of the greatest meals had by anyone.
Wow, what a culinary delight.
Frenchie is a very small restaurant located in an alley filled with chef Gregory Marchand establishments (wine bar, more casual FTG). The restaurant has a very warm, intimate, and almost homey-like ambiance that's not common of most Michelin-rated restaurants. Frenchie takes a more casual approach to fine dining, making the very elevated course meal feel more approachable. We were blown away by the service (employees all seemed so genuinely committed to providing the best experience) and every single course that came out. Starting with the amuse bouche that was visually impressive but also tasted unique and delicious, every single course was a visual work of art but equally matched in flavor and execution. Appreciated the introduction and use of some unique techniques and flavors/pairings and the entire meal was a delightful journey.
Superb dinner
Absolutely fantastic evening. Even thou there was a small mistake with the appetizers, it was fantasticly compensated later. You must have the pigeon! Restaurant was packed, but it felt as we were the only ones in there as service was superb. Big plus for no reservation needed!
2nd time going to Frenchie.
They have to searing times and is a small restaurant for about 20 people. They have a set 5 course menu $125 euros and wine paring for $60 euros. Delicious food, great experience and definitely deserves great reviews.

This was my favorite meal while vacationing in France with my husband. The chef visited all the tables before dinner began and he was most down-to-earth, sweet man. You could tell he cared a lot about his patrons' experience and was so glad he was a cool dude. We had an array of unique dishes, many with ingredients we normally would avoid. We ate everything and loved every bite. The sommelier was also super cool and I loved the wine pairings she recommended. I can't recall the details of every dish we had and appreciate that the menu changes based on seasonality and availability. The entire course flowed perfectly and I loved the surprises by a lot of the dishes. I prefer 1 michelin star restaurants because they don't go overboard with the dining experience and am glad this place didn't either. There are definitely unique and innovative creations coming out of this kitchen, but nothing that will leave your stomach unsettled. The restaurant is hard to find so allow extra time to get there. With all the michelin starred restaurants in Paris, I'm so glad we chose a solid one! Thank you French for a beautiful meal.
Wow!!
We loved this place and its super creative small plates menu. We had plenty of food and 2 glasses of wine each for about 120 Euros. It was our favorite meal in Paris.
My cup of tea
Easily the best food we had in Paris this trip. Great location inside a Pigalle Hotel. Very casual atmosphere. It’s a sharing type menu and believe me that’s a good thing as there are so many great dishes to chose from. Just great cooking. So many good dishes. Service was excellent throughout. Note: they tried to be a bit tricky at the beginning saying we booked for 2 not 4. We knew they were just running late on some tables. We were happy to wait and take a drink. No need to try and jib us. Girl on reception could’ve done with cheering up to. Anyhow the rest of it more than compensated for the slow beginning. Excellent
Dining in Paris presented a rare opportunity for easy
Dining in Paris presented a rare opportunity for easy access to Michelin starred restaurants. With over 90 One-Star Michelin restaurants to choose from, it was hard deciding which ones to check out during the 3 nights we were in Paris. Frenchie consistently popped up as one of the must-try restaurants in Paris, so I made sure to log in at 5PM Chicago time 3 weeks out to snag a reservation.Location/Ambiance: Frenchie is located in a small cobblestone street just off main road. Chef Marchand has pretty much made Rue du Nil his own personal alley with Frenchie, Frenchie To Go, Frenchie Wine Store, and Frenchie Wine Bar all located in a small cluster together. The inside is small and intimate and can fit maybe 20 people during each dinner session. The entire night there were walk-ins who were disappointed to find out Frenchie was essentially reservation-only and it was completely booked for the night.Food: They only offered a Chef's Tasting Menu, with no items available a la carte. Dinner consisted of about 5 courses, and was paced out to be around 2 hours long. You can choose from either thee 6:30PM or 9PM sessions. Dinner was 125eu per person, with an additional 60eu if you wanted the introductory level wine pairing. My wife and I have previously experienced tasting menus at Michelin starred restaurants, but we are by no means regulars in the fine dining scene. One of my favorite aspects of a tasting menu is to see how Chefs can take food that I typically wouldn't choose to eat on my own, and then transform the flavors into something that a pickier eater like myself is blown away by.There are a lot of Japanese/French fusion Michelin restaurants in Paris, but Frenchie leaned more toward modern French cuisine. All the course seemed to be seasonally ingredient-driven and cultivated some strong flavors from simple ingredients. One of my favorite bites of the night was the first one, where a piece of smoked eel literally tasted like a bacon flavor bomb to me. All the dishes did focus a little more toward vegetables, and I wish they did a red meat dish rather than chicken, but otherwise everything they served still tasted great. Additionally, I thought they did a great job with the wine pairings. Each pairing truly did resemble/complement the flavors of the course being served. It was a fantastic dinner at a great price when compared to the one-Michelin star restaurants we have in Chicago.
Absolute perfection! Top 3 meals of my life.
There is a lot of hype around Frenchie so I was overjoyed to get a reservation for dinner during our trip to Paris. Reservations open three weeks ahead of time and are necessary - the place is very small and intimate. It's a chef-tasting menu and I ended up getting the wine pairing to go with it. I was impressed not only by the flavors but the attention to detail in every dish that came out. One of my favorite dishes was presented on a plate of fall leaves and rocks. On top are two crackers in the shape of a leaf with dots of aioli and smoked/cured eel. It was nothing like I'd ever tasted before - the smoky eel flavor with the creaminess of the aioli was a perfect blend. It's one of those bites that you want to ask for more and more of. That's how I felt about all the dishes. Fresh farm veggies with ice cream on top. White fish with a mushroom mouse. The meal was outstanding, creative, and detailed. If you can get a reservation you should definitely go! I will be thinking about this meal until I go back to Paris and visit Frenchie again!
One of the most outstanding food experiences I've ever had.
From the first to last course, everything was divine to the tongue!
