Golden Poppy Paris Reviews
Not good
Terrible preparation of the dishes - way too salty and not cooked properly. Service was lackluster. Felt like I wasted a night and time is too important to waste. Way better options in Paris then this place.
Emperorâs New Clothes?
Beautiful restaurant located in an amazing hotel in Faubourg Montmatre. Unfortunately the food and service did not meet the high expectations the surroundings promised. An amuse Bouche of a Madeline with onion cream was bland and I could not taste the onion. At the suggestion of our waitress we ordered the Parker rolls, mackerel tart and a mussel dish to share and to mix flavours. Whilst everything was beautifully presented there was no marriage of flavours or combinations, to be frank it was all a bit misconceived. The mackerel was fishy but where was the sea in the mussels? The bread was fine, the lime butter brought a sharpness but the egg yolk and the cream condiments were lost on me. I could not see the point of it. We both had Seabass with fennel and a Mexican sauce. The Seabass was excellent with lovely crisp skin but the Mexican sauce had no attack and was bland. The fennel was tough. Service was of the abrupt Germanic style. Maybe this restaurant was too subtle for my taste but at such high prices charged (18 euros for a side dish of cooked lettuce) I was left wondering whether this was a case of the Emperorâs New Clothes!
Jedi Mind B.S.
No one would listen. I dropped by, asking for dessert. It was like Jedi mind trickery: would I like a patio? Would I like a rooftop? Would I like the drink menu? I only wanted dessert. I agreed to the rooftop for a drink. When I asked the rooftop waiter for dessert options he said I would have to bring that up with the staff downstairs. So after one drink, I asked for the check and headed downstairs, when I asked about dessert. The hostess declared it was now too late. But other than that she asked: âhow was it?â
A spot of sun in Paris
What a delight! Fab food. Not a big enough choice, however. Staff was friendly and professional. I am so glad I went and will be back.
âŠamazing!
Ăbersetzter Text ...currently perhaps one of the best kitchens in paris. those who know the "***atelier crenn" in san francisco will recognize the signature of owner dominique crenn. sustainable, light, creative and healthy seasonal cuisine, relaxed atmosphere, attentive team in service. very, very good on many levels. do it!
Nice informal spot in the 9e arrondissement
We went after theatre for dinner to this restaurant. the design and overall aptmosphere were very nice, the service excellent and the musique interesting. As for the food, we found it a bit too complicated , as if the cheffe was trying too much. What we liked most was the pain californien, the Spicy fried rice noodles, and the Orange kakigori as a dessert. Unfortunately the mullet was dry, the red tuna tartare tasteless, (or the side leaves too spicy for it), the pollock fish and chips OK. Still, I recommend the restaurant and I can't wait testing the garden in summer time!
French-made californian cuisine
This is a restaurant from the three-star chef Dominique Crenn inside the La Fantaisie hotel. Funny decor near the hotel garden, the food here is inspired by the chef's experience in California. Pescatarian menu offering seasonal vegetables and sustainable fish. Colourful dishes, beautifully presented, some just amazing, the others require a little bit more of work (caviar and home-made garum barely noticeable). Not for all pockets.
Heâs not dead yet but this could kill Mr. Tower.
You cannot present California cuisine like this to the French. Deja (as the French would say) it looks like a tea room in Ft. Lauderdale. For the price you pay, a minimum is the tables dressed properly. Secondly, the food is not presented as it should be. I could fix it, because the food needs to be presented differently, and the focal point should be the kitchen. I was a regular client at Stars and Speedoâs in their heyday and this is all wrong.
