Longtime fans of Goosefeather, we were sad to hear that they closed for the summer and excited to see them reopen. There were some new items on the menu that we thought we would try rather than repeat old favorites.
Our first two dishes, the Heirloom Tomato Salad and Summer Corn, were both spectacular and revelatory. The berries, mint, and bizarrely enough boba transformed the tomato salad into something magical. Similarly, the summer corn was turned into the base for an amazing veggie dish by spices, brown butter, and excellent technique.
The Shrimp Bao Bun was quite delicious...but merely that. I wouldn't put it particularly above or below their 'wheelhouse' dishes like the potstickers. The disappointment of the day was the Hamachi Tartare. We expected thin slices of Hamachi accented by the other bits listed on the menu but it turned out to be a cross between an avocado salad and Lomi Lomi tuna. It wasn't bad...but it wasn't particularly good either.
They had new drinks as well which we sampled. The Angel City was spectacular and had that perfect balance of sweet, sour, and alcohol Goosefeather is known for. The West Meadow Sipper was quite good as well but we found the Sunglasses and Advil a bit too 'medicinal' for our tastes. To each their own.
The service was as always exemplary. And the decor lovely.
For those that care, Goosefeather now requires their indoor guests to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The process was quick and simple - we used the NYC COVID SAFE app.
