JINYA Ramen Bar - Fairfax Merrifield Reviews from The Last Year
Disappointing Decline in Service Quality: A Review of Jinya
Disappointing Decline in Service Quality: A Review of Jinya Ramen As a longtime patron of Jinya Ramen, my loyalty stems from the exceptional customer service I experienced during the years when the restaurant was located at Mosaic, adjacent to the movie theater. However, since its relocation to a new spot merely a couple of restaurants away from the original, there has been a noticeable shift in management, resulting in a significant decline in overall service quality. Initially, the transition seemed seamless, with the service maintaining its standard for some time. Yet, over the past year, it has been evident that the efficiency and attentiveness I once enjoyed have steadily diminished. During my recent visits, I encountered frustrating delays and lapses in basic service etiquette. On one occasion, I found myself waiting at the bar for nearly 30 minutes for a simple drink, as the bartender was also serving tables--a less than efficient arrangement for patrons seated at the bar. Additionally, on another visit, I ordered a ramen bowl only to be left without utensils for nearly half an hour, rendering me unable to commence my meal. Despite bringing these concerns to the attention of the management, it appeared that my grievances were met with indifference. Regrettably, subsequent visits yielded similar experiences, with prolonged wait times for both drink and food orders, and a continued disregard for providing necessary utensils with meals. While the managers acknowledged the issues raised, their failure to address and rectify these recurring service shortcomings reflects a concerning lack of organizational capability and customer-centric approach. The mismanagement observed at this location not only tarnishes the reputation of Jinya Ramen but also undermines its revenue potential. As a dissatisfied customer, I feel compelled to share my negative experiences with friends, family, and fellow patrons frequenting this establishment. In conclusion, the current management at Jinya Ramen in Mosaic, Virginia, is sorely lacking in organizational skills and fails to prioritize customer satisfaction. Until substantial improvements are made, I can no longer endorse or support this location with confidence.
Great customer service and amazing food.
A great vibe and great people here too. I had a couple of people ask what I thought and I said amazing. Definitely a place on my radar now.

I wish I could give 10 stars!! The wonderful manager Amy and sweet server Maryah made our visit so fantastic! It was my husband's birthday and Amy and Maryah ensured he had a wonderful visit, including birthday wishes and a special birthday desert with a candle and song!! They truly went above and beyond and we were so moved! The food of course is as always, outstanding. Thank you. Amy and Maryah!! We will certainly be back soon!!

I brought my mom for an early birthday dinner and we did not leave disappointed! When we first arrived, we were sat close to another group and the JINYA hostess was really accommodating. We ended up sitting in front of the fireplace which turned out to be an amazing place to relax and share a meal after a long day. Thomas, our server was absolutely AMAZING. We love going to restaurants where our waiters really know the menu and can offer suggestions. He did that and way more! He shared his recommendations with us and checked in frequently to see if we needed anything. Since it was my mom's birthday, he gave her another complimentary drink and even brought out dessert at the end of our meal. Everything was a 10/10! We will definitely be coming back -- and hopefully Thomas is working so we can have him again!
The food was great.
I ordered the Garlic Mabo Men and it had a nice flavor to it and was a nice, large portion, to where I have more than enough for lunch the next day. Had fantastic service from Antonio and overall, dining was a pleasant experience that I would recommend.

I want to say, Monday March 4, I came with my mom and my puppy to have some ramen. It was not chilly but I could feel the spring weather. As soon as I came into the restaurant, server name Kitty (she mentioned her name but if I messed up her name, I apologize), she was absolute perfect. She explained the menus very details and gave me more of options to have for me and my mom. She is a real deal man. I cannot appreciate her more than I got today. People! When you all come in, look for her man. She is the reason you will feel joy and comfortable feeling while you are having lunch or dinner.

Not worth it.
We have been here about a year ago and were not impressed. In the spur of the moment we wanted to try it again wanting it to be good. This place is the ramen equivalent to the sushi place in the mall, where the food comes on a conveyor belt. The restaurant concept certainly addresses people who like ramen and think by paying extra they can improve on what they are eating, while quoting a few lines from their self adulating menu to confirm to themselves and other, what a great place this is. Just, it's not. It's loud, dark, busy, with bad service. The welcome is on par with North Italia, where some kids hardly help you. Then you wait and wait. Finally we get to see a person, who promises to do her best to give us an drink menu as well - if she can find it. Once we overcame all hurdles, the food came out like on a conveyor belt: Drink, drink, app 1, app2 ... the ramens came together, though. The pork buns are great (not typical but certainly a great composition). They curry nikuman is reheated and unpleasant to eat. (I wished I had some fries to dip in the curry sauce, though.) Both appetizers are more a nod towards an appetizer but not what USD 10/ea in an Asian restaurant lets expect you. Most importantly: The ramen broth is not pleasant. They pride themselves in it's creaminess but aside from a curry-ramen, I have not seen that to be actually nice. The broth is way to salty. The ramen has way too few toppings (not even some corns they could spare). That makes sense, if you look at the extra-toppings list (and their prices ???). The seaweed was not crunchy but chewy. The noodles too thick an heavy. The pork chashu has little flavor (at least none that survived the creamy/salty broth). Either most guest doing the rating here haven eaten a good ramen, or they desperately want this place in walking distance of they condo to be nice. On that note, almost in walking distance is Umai Ramen (Herndon), which, whith its hole-in-the-wall setting is certainly much more authentic - but in terms of taste and flavor another category. Yido ramen in Tyson's and Kare in Chantilly are other great choices, were you get real ramen and in great quality to boot. Given that it's about twice the price (we paid USD 100 for cocktail/bee, 2 apps and 2 ramen - w/o extra toppings!) we will not come here anymore to take business away from real ramen places.
