L'Observatoire, restaurant gastronomique du Gabriel Bordeaux Reviews from The Last Year
New era, new heights
Dinner at the Observatory, now directed by Bertrand Noeureuil (ex-Plénitude / Paris) who is at the top of his discipline. Each dish is a visual enchantment, which is coupled with a taste delight. Originality, boldness, balance, flavors, it’s all there. The cooking is surgically precise, the sauces to die for, the play on textures stunning. From appetizers to sweet treats, it’s a remarkably orchestrated gastronomic ballet without the slightest false note. If each dish satisfied us, I for my part was amazed by the incredible sturgeon biscuit, the farm vegetables, the red mullet steak (I didn't know that a red mullet could be so tender...) and the “Gabriel” crepe cake. It’s truly great art. The service, under the attentive leadership of Pierrick Chapel (ex-Vague d'Or / Saint-Tropez) is impeccable: well-paced, friendly and discreet. The magic of the setting always works as if it were obvious, and the combination of all this makes Gabriel a place apart within the Bordeaux gastronomic scene. Congratulations to the chef and his teams, the new chapter which is opening promises to be absolutely major.
Delicacy in Bordeaux
Delicate cuisine, full of finesse. Wonderful cooking of tender and crispy Médoc lamb. Very high level. An original southwest cheese cellar... enjoy this table which does not yet have the classification it deserves..
EXCEPTIONAL
Exceptional!! Be careful, we are talking about the Gastro which is located on the second floor, while there is also the restaurant on the first floor which is also good, but not comparable to the Gastro "L'OBSERVATORY". A new Chef, named Bertrand, just arrived last December with part of his team. He comes from CHEVAL BLANC in Paris and also from CHEVAL BLANC in Saint Tropez. He is young, barely 35 years old, but will reach the top. He has the time and great talent. “Mr Michelin”, give him 2 stars straight away, you will save time!! I have rarely, in my long life (80 years) dined so well. Everything is exceptional, I weigh my words. From start to finish it is enchanting. In addition, the service is impeccable, and if you are lucky, you are invited for 5 minutes between two courses, to taste a small additional dish ready from the kitchen, served by the Chef himself. The price is commensurate with the quality, and totally justified.
Stunning
An unforgettable evening at the observatory. Everything was perfect ! The taste, the staff and the chef who takes great care of his customers. Flawless and plus surprises during the evening. The cuisine of new chef Bertrand Noeureuil is incredible!!!! Thanks again.
Beautiful evening at the Observatory!
What a beautiful evening this dinner at the Observatory! We congratulate Stéphanie de Boüard for her recruitment, both in the kitchen and in the service, everyone shows great professionalism. The mastery of their work sublimates the products of our terroirs and gives rise to dishes of great precision, both delicious and aesthetic, which delighted us. From the furniture, to the decoration and to the heart of the plate, we have found the refinement and elegance that characterize Stéphanie and Château Angelus. We took great care and really appreciated the friendly 'chabrot' stage which allows us to talk freely with chef Bertrand Noeureuil, while observing the rigor of his brigade at work. Young and efficient, this new team is capable of getting a second badge and we sincerely hope so. When we left the chef last night, we were already talking about coming back... Well done !
Have a drink
Very warm welcome and cocktail 🍸 excellent!!!! I recommend the place and of course the cocktails!!!
Excellent table with a superb view of the Place de la Bourse
Excellent table! We had a very pleasant time for my mother's birthday at the observatory: intimate setting, cozy decoration, attentive staff, sommelier with good advice, quality food with lots of flavors, surprises in every bite. My mother being allergic to gluten (celiac disease), the chef adapted the preparations so that she could eat each step of the menu. Hats off, we’ll be back!
Outstanding dining experience
My son gifted us this dining experience and I was a bit nervous in case I would feel uncomfortable in such a top-end establishment. We decided to use it on our wedding anniversary. The welcome we received was warm and friendly, with all the staff ensuring that we had a memorable evening. We were given a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne and were asked whether we had any allergies or intolerances, which we don’t, luckily, as I would not have wanted to miss out on any of the delicious ingredients. We were given some amazing amuses-bouche, each item being described in detail. Then we received the menu to peruse and assured that any questions would be answered. Most of the dishes were fish based, apart from the veal, but that suited us very well and we chose a white wine from the very extensive wine list. The two young ladies who delivered each course explained them in great detail and I was amazed at the inventive fusion of ingredients. All 7 courses were so delicious that I was sorry when I had finished. A tasty bread, fait maison, was given to accompany, along with a walnut oil and butter in the shape of a shallot. It was so moreish that we finished the loaf, whereupon another one was delivered to us. Throughout, our servers and wine waiters were extremely attentive, without being intrusive. As we had no room for coffee, our finishing gourmandises were packed up for us, along with the bread, as I had admired it so much. We were also given another package containing cakes, all fait maison. Finishing touches such as these leave such a positive impression, as did the anniversary plaque which appeared on our table. I only took a few photos to show my son as he had made us the gift.It seemed a bit crass to photograph each course. Overall, the setting, service and food combined to create a perfect occasion. It was a unique, exquisite meal and I would thoroughly recommend it.
A 7 star dining experience.
If I could give l’Observatoire 7 stars I would. The food was absolutely amazing. The wine list was vast. The service was impeccable. The staff were all very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the food. A fantastic experience overall. Not cheap, but very, very highly recommended.
Brilliant staff
Fantastic staff! Very friendly and helpful and welcoming to children as well. Spectacular views and great place to take in Bordeaux in the sunshine.
