Mona Lisa New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Incredibly poor customer service
Nice food but incredibly poor service. We should have left as soon as we received not even a greeting from the surly grey-haired older male host/manager/owner?! The food was nice but the service overall was very poor. This establishment seems to rely on it's 'seemingly' good reputation and not put any effort into providing any level of 'customer service'. That and the poor quality substandard toilet facilities reflect a business that simply doesn't care about offering a good customer experience. Our experience is that there are plenty of other NOLA establishments who deserve our business and hard earned money.

Great Italian food, great wine list, and great service at a very reasonably price It's a cozy spot one block off bourbon street. In addition, you are greeted at the door by Farrow - a warm sweet angel and one of God's greatest creations.
Absolutely to die for.
Stuffed mushrooms are a must. Chicken Parmesan was spectacular and the pasta Nona was insanely delicious. 1000 % recommend this place!!!!!

Mona Lisa is always a destination dinner spot when in New Orleans! Family & friends gather here for delicious and bountiful meals, and we keep coming back for the friendly, attentive and exceptional service from Rayven & Lindsey. The adorable decor is a treat that is only transcended by the fun and jovial atmosphere! And last, but certainly not least, we return for the always enjoyable interaction with the inimitable host, Farrow! Whether sharing stories about the neighborhood or playfully sparring with regulars, he's a huge part of the pleasant experience we have every time we go. Oh! And don't miss the humorous signs he posts in the window! You will always leave Mona Lisa with a smile on your face!
I have eaten at Mona Lisa many times over the years.
Tonight I got the privilege of introducing my son to the restaurant. Every dish I have tried is amazing, but let me talk about Farrow. He gets some bad reviews for being "crusty", but I think he's looking out for his servers. He was on guard only because it was near or past closing time. We were fortunate to get in, but if you have ever come late, come back at a reasonable hour. The ambiance, food, and service are all worth it. Thanks, Farrow!
Cozy Italian Restaurant, delicious menu and friendly staff
Cozy Italian Restaurant, delicious menu and friendly staff situated on Royal St in the French Quarter.
Food is excellent.
Service is excellent. Chef is excellent. Admittedly, a little weird that he kept yelling something about a "little chef!" at his hat before waving his fists in the air and then frantically running about the kitchen, but ambience is still incredible. Love that this place closes for Mardi Gras too. Makes sense given that we live in New Orleans.

This is a beloved neighborhood spot with consistently good food and a cozy atmosphere. It's the place to go when you need comfort food, a glass of wine, and pleasant people watching. Also, I stop to read their funny signs commenting on local news and such every morning on the way to work and it makes my day a bit brighter. Mona Lisa is really a part of the community.
We eat at Mona Lisa often.
The food is fantastic. Tom creates magic in the kitchen. Lindsey is our favorite server. She is professional, attentive and super sweet. While the food and service are top-notch, our favorite reason to go there is for Farrow, "The cranky old white man at the door" as a few reviews have mentioned. He is hysterical and super witty. We laugh the whole time we are there. Great food, super service and a floor show. How could you ask for more?
Friendly, casual and tasty.
We loved Mona Lisa restaurant. We had to wait for a table about 40 minutes, since it is small and popular place. Our waitress, Raven, was very friendly and the service was great. The food was really tasty and comfortable. We were searching for a place exactly like this. Other listings in New Orleans seemed either too "Foo Foo" fancy or loud and crazy with the New Orleans crowds. This place is perfect. If we lived here we would be here all the time. Walls are covered in pictures of all types of Mona Lisa. Many are campy and funny. It just added to the feel good atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Excellent food & service at great prices!
This is the best food we have had in three days in New Orleans. Very good, flavorful food at good prices. Excellent service, as well. Highly recommend!
Awesome Italian
Mona Lisa is one of my favorite restaurants in NOLA. I try to dine there 2 to 3 times during my stay. I usually get the Mardi Gras Pasta and Caesar salad. The cheese bread is fantastic. Iโve been getting pizza lately too. The pizza is delicious. Farrow, Lindsey and Raven are awesome!
No-frills Italian
If you're looking for a no-frills basic Italian restaurant in the quarter, this is your spot. It's quaint and moderately priced. The food isn't fine dining, nor is it innovative, but that's not always what someone is looking for!
Disappointing
The decor and staff were great, but the food was very bad, to the point of not eating. I got the bolognese which had 0 sauce and lots of crumbled up meat that you could tell was once frozen. My husband got the chicken parm which was ok but lacked flavor and the chicken was a bit chewy. Overall, very disappointing.
Sassy Italian delight!
Fabulous food, wonderful staff..... and we loved our sassy host! We laughed with the staff the whole time we were there. What a gem of a place to eat
If your looking for a good Italian look no further
After a week in the states craving something other than burgers or fried food we came across this restaurant. On arriving the waiter was a bit abrupt saying โneed to wait 40 mins for table, you can wait over thereโ pointing to a pub I think called the golden lantern. We did so which was a bonus cause it had a good atmosphere. He then came and got us when the table was ready. We had the mardi gras pasta and Parmesan chicken. Both delicious. The waitress we had (sorry didnโt catch her name )was charming and polite. So lesson is donโt be put off by grumpy guyโฆ I think itโs just his nature ( unfortunately it doesnโt fit with the hospitality industry) but we thought it amusing. If you are in New Orleans give it a go if your looking for a good Italian.
