Incredible views with even more incredible food.
This hidden gem of a restaurant is tucked away on the roof of the Loren at South Lamar just on the south side of lady bird lake. You'll love the service from Sebastian and the whole staff here. If you're looking for a wonderful experience, this is the place.

Decor is very nice modern, upscale with a great view of the city. Bar area is very nice with plenty of seating. Main dining room was also nice with tables toward the view. Extensive wine list with choices in every price range. Food selection and quality was very good. Had the tuna crudo and Parker rolls as an appetizer. Both were very good. Entrees were the scallops and short ribs. Both very good and good quality. We'll definitely come back.

The ambiance is relaxing, the food is delicious and the views are perfect. The servers were very attentive and getting food and drinks were quick. Definitely recommend coming for breakfast or dinner.

What a view! But once you tear your eyes away from this skyline, you feast on perfection. We had hamachi, oysters, brussels, and octopus to start. Then redfish, pork chop, and short rib for entrees. Sorbetto for dessert. Everything we had was excellent. Perfect portions. The service is exquisite. The wine list is strong. The trend level is on point. Go here. Feel cool. Eat well. Remember how awesome Austin is.

The food and drinks are tasty, however the service is extremely slow and inattentive and the food is basically half portions but full price.

From the wait staff to the quality & quantity of food to the hosts. The hosts/managers were top notch in every way. An outstanding and most memorable dining event. Thank you Nido staff and management. Chandler, AZ visitors

A gem in the western side of Austin overlooking Lady Bird Lake! El Nido is a great place for a romantic, culinary getaway from hustle and bustle of Downtown Austin.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed my date here.
I loved that they had plenty of non alcoholic options. I was underwhelmed by the hamachi. It was very tart and needed some sweetness (which I don't say often) to balance it out. The sunchoke and pear was almost perfect. It needed just a pinch more salt but definitely a winner. The star- the agnolotti. I'd come back every day for that! Thinking about it now!!!! I just wish they'd serve it with a spoon to slurp up that perfect onion jus. So yummy!!!

.. Thank God we halved the second half of our stay in Austin at The Thompson; Diner Bar, here we come. Lol Was offered 'party favors' by the hotel staff and their supposedly top-tier restaurant insisted I leave the first $0.00 tip of my 40 years of life. SMFH. Almost all of my reviews are 4 or 5 stars; this one warranted the one star review, overall the service was extremely underwhelming beyond one great interaction from the FOH manager (maybe? - had the skill set, but failed on the execution)... followed by a complete lack of follow through on the resolution he actually expertly crafted. For a brief moment, I thought he had passed the litmus test for customer service, the ability to take a poor experience and turn it into a great experience, and thought this would be a 5 star review... but he dropped the ball hard chatting it up with other staff members and not following up with his promise/gesture to oversee the remainder of our service. SMFH. *Note* THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. TOP-TIER MENU. Shoutout to the kitchen staff and their attention to detail; we found no fault in the food whatsoever, even my French 75, which was abnormally herbaceous, was subjectively excellent. *Also, I should have known better than book dinner at a place where in-room arrived cold somehow that morning after only 15 minutes (shame on me, I'll have to give the hotel a second star for my overall lack of judgement). Sad thing is I'll probably give them a second chance and see if they can at least deliver par on a dine-in breakfast; everyone says I'm a sucker for second chances, but the $60 AmEx FHR breakfast credit probably contributes to my lack of good judgement. One last Pro-Tip: Remember to make sure you request a specific seat. If you defer to their judgment, you'll end up facing the kitchen door in a less than half full restaurant with an amazing view.

Cute brunch spot with the girls! Located upstairs at the Loren hotel. Incredible views of the water/downtown on your way up or eating depending on where you sit. Typical brunch menu items. Atmosphere made was the best to note
Be the first to ReplyGreat location, great views.
Inside is beautiful and there is a mix of dining tables and lounge tables. Our server (I think his name was Lance) was amazing. We ordered:Octopus carpaccio ScallopsCacio e pe-peaAgnolotti *Everything* was under seasoned to the point we had to ask for salt. While I understand the cacio e pe-pea was an emphasis on the peas, there was zero pepper in the dish. However, the seafood and pasta were all cooked perfectly. It was just such a let down at these prices that the food just missed the mark.

I decided to check this place out for lunch to see what the rooftop / views were about. Without a doubt, the view is amazing! Safe to say, the ambiance is great. My only angst is that the bathroom and even hotel itself has a distinct smell that I'm not a fan off. Food - I tried the Terrine and Lamb Ragu. The Apple sauce that accompanies the Terrine adds the right flavors to this dish. It's definitely an adventurous item but it's worth a try. The lamb ragu was also good - they didn't skimp on the lamb which is great! I would prefer crushed red peppers with this but sadly this was not available / offered. Service - probably my biggest angst and the 4 star is a generous mention for them. I felt forgotten more often than not in the restaurant. They weren't too busy, but I have not experienced such slow service in years. It because so slow that it was getting a bit frustrating as I probably would've ordered more and even dessert (had that even been offered - oh wait, no one was around). On this aspect - go at your own risk? it seems others may have had better experiences but I would not recommend based on the service.

My friend wanted to take me to a rooftop lounge during a quick visit. She made reservations on Open Table. The restaurant is located on the top 8th floor at The Loren. Valet is complimentary. What I liked about it, is you can scan the valet card before you take the elevator down, so when you get there, your vehicle is ready. You don't spend time waiting around outside. When we got seated, it was inside the dining area. We wanted outside seating for the views. They offered to put us on a waitlist for outside to maybe do dessert and after dinner drinks. It was elegant inside and quite chilly. I'm glad I brought a cardigan. My friend had a white wine, and I tried The Henry cocktail which was sweet and sour. I like that it was balanced and not just pure sugar. When we got seated on the balcony, I ordered my new go-to, a French 75. It was served in a champagne flute. It was a tad bitter at times, possibly from the lemon zest and the combination of pairing it with the pistachio crème brûlée.We started with the sugar snap peas salad with a buttermilk dill sauce and herbs like mint. It was very good, but the snap peas were sliced too small like scallions. It was difficult to pick up more than one piece with a fork. I had to use my knife to push pieces on the fork. They should make it a little bigger to spear. The mussel flatbread was delicious. I don't eat much seafood by choice, and I had never had mussels until that night, but there was so much richness in flavor of the sauce, I couldn't tell. The bread alone was good. I tried a piece with one mussel to try but mostly ate the bread.Since I had eaten the rest of my chicken biscuit from Bird Bird just before, I wanted something light. The butternut squash agnolotti was delicious with the brown butter and crispy sage. The pasta was al dente and filled with puréed squash. After dinner, they escorted us to the balcony for outside seating. We took endless photos of the Austin skyline which looks so gorgeous at night with all the lights. Half of the area was blocked off for a private event. I'm shocked that people waiting for their tables just walked out and went past the private event sign to take photos. They gave the hostess a difficult time and attitude. Y'all, it says closed. You can take photos on the first half that was open. I get that it's near the outside diners, but it's better than trespassing. Anyway, I like the black sheer curtains between the inside and outside dining for privacy. There are a few heated light lamps. It was a windy, slightly chilly night in Austin. The patio seating couches were comfortable and spacious with a long table in between. There's a small light lamp to read the menus. For dessert, we ordered the pistachio crème brûlée and Pavlova, which is vegan. I didn't taste the pistachio flavor much, but the crème brûlée was still good, and the top was caramelized well. The Pavlova with tropical fruit and coconut sorbet was tart and refreshing. We really liked that dessert the best. Service was excellent throughout. They were attentive, and a chef came out to ask us if we liked the crème brûlée. I just don't think the food portion and menu is worth the price points. It's very steep. Maybe breakfast is better? Even the mocktail was on the small side for $10. Heck, even Versace mansion in Miami had bigger mocktails with decent pricing. I think most people come here just for the view.

Talk about best rooftop bar in Austin! The views, vibes, drinks, and service were all immaculate! I have only gone for drinks and apps so far, so I can't comment on the food just yet, but the cocktails were amaaazing! If you love foamy drinks with egg whites like me, I highly recommend the Coco Fuego - this was my favorite. We also ordered fries which were so fresh and served with the tastiest garlic aioli, and the crudités which were delicious as well.I would recommend making a reservation beforehand to secure your table since this is a popular spot, but also keep in mind that you can only make a reservation for the inside of the restaurant. If you want to sit outside, you have to request it when you show up OR you can call ahead and they'll add a note to your reservation - no guarantees on this though as it's first come first serve! We went around 5:30pm and stayed for about an hour and a half, which allowed us to catch the daytime view, sunset, and the night time view - all of which were stunning. I would highly recommend this spot for a date night, girls night, or just a gathering with friends/family!

I came here one evening around sunset for girls night and the food was delicious! We got the octopus starter dish and the chicken main dish and both were phenomenal. The drinks were also well made and cute. Would definitely come back again! Especially for the views of downtown from here!

After having been back three more times to go to the bar I will not be returning as the service has gotten worse and worse every single time to the point where i felt insulted by the wait staff. disgraceful.

The view outside was fantastic and the service was good but the food was not good. We were given a compensation. Maybe the lunch and dinner are better.

The expresso martini's are phenomenal & the workers are literally so kind! I recommend 100%. If you are looking for a good view with great drinks definitely come here.
Be the first to ReplyOverall experience was good, but not great.
There were a few things that stuck out to me. I made my reservation about a month in advance and put a note with a special request - I wanted to be at a outdoor table, I was not sat anywhere near the window. I would hope that the notes would be acknowledged since it is an option when making the reservation. The portions are fairly small considering the price. Obviously view will over power the food and drinks. Lastly, service was subpar. Things were slow and not very attentive. The server was there to take the orders and cash out the bill. There was no personable or friendly interactions happening. I would say a gold star goes to the lady who was bussing tables. She was on top of it and friendly. Overall, I would not be opposed to trying this place again, just wasn't a great first impression.

Had the best caesar salad, wine and service from Rhett. Could not have had a better experience, looking forward to coming back!
