Great restaurant
Always amazing food and friendly service! Been going to Raku for the past couple of years and it never disappoint! Good ambiance, food and service always on point! Great wine list too!
Japanese Food - So Good
The tasting menu of 11 dishes over 6 courses was a great way to go. We paired each course with matching wines, which were delightful. The food was excellent, the service very good. We asked for a food break mid way, which was not a problem for them. Not hurried at all. This was our second visit and we would not hesitate in returning again when in Canberra. Favourite dishes - the rock oysters, the salmon tartare, sashimi santen, the scotch fillet was delicious and perfectly cooked!
Raku is high quality Japanese and great for a special occasion
We ordered a range of meals rather than the banquet menu and got better value for money. The tuna carpaccio was great - sauce was terrific, wagyu gyoza was good but got some gristle in one which should be taken out, chicken scewers were great, had two bottles of Nick O'leary riesling between 5 of us, the rolls were small but enjoyable and they accomodated the 5 of us. We sat in a booth which was a great touch. Service was very slow and we had to ask for service a couple of times.

My husband and I booked ourselves a “indulgent” meal in what felt like forever without the kids. We were not disappointed by RAKU!! Everything we had was delicious. Our waitress gave 5 star service! This is on our list of places to re-visit.

Over rated and over priced . Definitely would not have a hat in Sydney. Okay but far from great. Will not be going back that's for sure

Food is great but the head staff are so full of themselves and dismissive. Really trying hard to be a cool spot. Location is good too.
Poor hygiene conditions and service! hat should be removed!
We traveled from Sydney to Canberra particularly for this ‘mostly anticipated one hat restaurant’. The restaurant has great décor and ambiance. Food is exquisitely delicious. However, the customer service is way below standards. The lady server with a grumpy attitude did not provide any explanations to the menu and kept saying ‘No. You can’t’ to our questions and then quickly snatched the menu away. Not to mention that she did not greet us and had no eye contact with us AT ALL. But then the most shocking part was that my son saw that the mass amounts of DEAD FILES behind our seat!!! I almost vomited at that moment!!! I walked up to the front and spoke to the in-charge discreetly (a guy in a white shirt without wearing glasses), showed him the nasty scene behind our seat. Surprisingly, he wasn’t care about that and DID NOT respond to me. He let me felt ignorance and walked out the restaurant by myself without any apology or even saying a word about it. I have never had such a bad experience before even in any casual eateries. Regardless how good their food is beautiful crafted, I believe the one hat should be removed in terms of the unprofessional customer service and the poorly hygiene conditions in a ‘Hatted’ restaurant. I am still feeling nauseous when I’m writing this review, also remembering the whole disappointing dining experience.
Beautiful Japanese food highly recommend
The quality of the fish at this restaurant is simply stunning. Exceptional variety on the menu and the staff are incredibly helpful. We ducked in for lunch and it was a great surprise
Not worth the interior design
Nice atmosphere with attention to detail interior. Liked the lightings and overall design. The food was not significantly different but the price very high compared to the service and everything.
All good, just 2 suggestions
We enjoyed the food, menu was extensive and flexible for both amount of food and cost. The sashimi was very good, and every dish offered. We could have done with a utensil to stir the eggplant, which was hard to do with chopsticks even if experienced. The only suggestions I would make for improvement are: 1) having just returned from Japan, I found the wait staff a bit abrupt, probably not intentionally, as they were friendly enough, but all seemed rushed and a bit more brusque than we're used to after being for weeks with gentle, genuinely polite and service-oriented folk. Even the sauce was poured quickly and roughly so it splashed and had to be wiped up - how does that save time over doing it right the first time - slowly and calmly? It's not relaxing to feel everyone is in a rush. 2) the background music. Not a fan. Perhaps some gentle classical Japanese music would have aided a sense of relaxation. Again, outside of the horrific tourist areas, we always experienced very laidback sounds where there was music at all. I understand the desire to present as modern and not a cliché, but is it a tapas bar or a more sensuous dining experience? Anyway, we enjoyed the meal.
Unfriendly for walk ins
My partner and I arrived at raku this evening, admittedly without a booking, to find the restaurant had no availability at the time. The host was extremely unfriendly and unaccommodating, borderline arrogant. Didn’t provide any options other than to sit outside on a cold night when the venue has no outdoor heaters or enclosed area. Considering Canberra is cold 9 months of the year, I think it would be useful to have a warm outdoor seating area.

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
