Rasika West End Washington Reviews from The Last Year
We had the chicken tikka masala and mango shrimp curry.
The chicken was very soooft and divine. The mango shrimp was okay. Was expensive especially considering that portions were small-ish but good food.

Came in a Wednesday night about 1/2 hour before closing and sat at the bar. Was pretty much ignored a bit. We reached over and got our own menus Then Farouk took care of us. Lamb shank, dal dhungaree,Banian bharta, Hindi aloo. Omg all the food was amazing. Wine and port later were awesome.
Took my client here because a few people recommended me.
I will definitely be back. The food matched the prestige presentation of the dish. Staff was great. Manager even checked on us.
Always love going to Rasika today was even more spectacular.
Amazing service from Jason at the bar. He is knowledgeable and super hospitable. He epitomizes what the Indian culture is about. Congrats Mr Bajaj you have a winner.
Overpriced and overrated I got the palak chat, veggie
Overpriced and overrated I got the palak chat, veggie kebabs and sabudana kofta Here's a breakdown of what I thought: Palak chat: very greasy and oily. Flavor was ok Veggie kebabs: better than the palak chat but still not very seasoned and tasted like mashed veggies Sabudana kofta: asked for spicy and they delivered but that's why it tasted good. The texture or the sabudana didn't work well. The sauce has a very coconut forward flavor The menu doesn't really explain the dishes well. For example there's a paneer dish but you wouldn't know it was in a curry. They have an $80 tasting menu too which I thought was a little ridiculous Save yourself some trouble and consider going elsewhere for Indian food
Highly recommend the sweet potato samosas, life changing!!
Highly recommend the sweet potato samosas, life changing!! Everything else is extremely solid. Staff are all very attentive
Excellent service and absolutely delicious food! Rasika is
Excellent service and absolutely delicious food! Rasika is one of my favorite DC restaurants and truly never fails to disappoint. Came here for dinner with my friend before a concert and was excited to try some different menu items. To start off I had the Asha cocktail - a unique blend of spices all bound in a strong tequila. The star of the show was the Malai Sheek Kabobs! Absolutely divine with the spicy green chutney and lemon. Cannot wait to get this again! We also got a Chicken Curry that was a delicious tomato base. Both dishes and their masala paired exceptionally well with the cocktails! The ambiance was lively, bright, and social! Loved to see customers from all walks of life enjoying meals with family. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. I wish I got our waiter's name! He did an excellent job making sure we were satisfied and really went the extra mile. Overall, highly recommend the Penn Quarter Rasika if you are in the mood for fine dining in a beautifully lit restaurant!
Recommended by local and recently called out by New York
Recommended by local and recently called out by New York Times, Rasika is wonderful! Sat at the bar (didn't have reservation). Bartender very nice and easy on the eyes. Tequila cocktail was refreshing and well-balanced, not too sweet. Mango shrimp were very good. But the star of the show was the peking duck confit. Amazing in every way, the duck, the sauce, just perfect. And two leg quarters? Generous portion. Had a glass of wine and Nan as well for $70. Felt reasonable.
I think I had a review of Rasika from maybe 10 years ago
I think I had a review of Rasika from maybe 10 years ago where I didn't like it, and I just have to say, Alisa 10 years ago clearly had no taste. Rasika is now one of my go-to restaurants for work lunches/dinner and personal dinners. It's incredibly good food in a nice atmosphere and it's very reasonably priced for what it is (it's really maybe a dollar or two more expensive per dish than our neighborhood Indian food restaurants). Of course, get the palak chat. There's really nothing else to say. My other personal favorites are the chicken tikka masala (one of my favorites in DC) and the veggie dishes, which I think are underrated. The chicken tikka is also quite good. I've had most of the menu at this point, and frankly, the veggies are much better than the seafood dishes. The naans are average sized (but better than average tasting), so I usually order one naan per person. The cocktails are amazing, and when I'm here for a personal meal, i always order at least 2 because they are that good. I love the Rasika, but you really can't go wrong. The service is usually good but I've had a few occasions where it wasn't that great, but honestly, for the price point, the service is way higher than average. They also have private dining, which is also very reasonably priced for DC private dining and another one of my go-tos.
We were so excited to eat here with so many wonderful
We were so excited to eat here with so many wonderful reviews. Sad to say, we were quite disappointed with the dishes we tried. Since we wanted a lite meal, we just ordered the Mango Shrimp, Butter chicken & rice. The rice came with the dishes but was definitely not enough for two. The downfall was the flavors. The Mango Shrimp: It had spices but not the delicious perfection we expected. Mango curry should not be sour, especially with fresh mango. The portions were very small, 4 shrimp for an entire dish is really chintzy for what you're paying $28. Just couldn't finish the sauce due to flavor issues. Plus, didn't have enough rice to absorb so much sauce with barely any shrimp. Few thin slices of eggplant was all the ingredients. Sad. Even with the great mango chutney, it didn't help much. The butter chicken (made special) had a similar sour aftertaste. Not the creamy deliciousness normally associated with this dish. We usually hate to leave any leftover but these dishes just didn't hit the mark. Won't be returning. Just not the happy place we expected.

Rasika is my favorite Indian restaurant in DC and one of my favorites overall. Their chicken makhani is exceptional. I also like the tikka masala. I'd say their naan and samosas are slightly less good, but still high quality. My friends also really love the Palak Chat, but it's not my thing personally. The service is good and vibe is upscale casual. It's great for take out as well! Overall 5/5
Came here for a work meeting.
The food was delicious. We ordered a few items and shared them. Everything we ate was good, but I want to highlight a few of my favorites. The Palak Chaat, Reshmi Kebab, and Tandoori Duck Makhani are must orders. The servers were very helpful and could recommend many of our dishes.
Food was amazing! We sat at the bar and had great service.
I look forward to going back!
Went here on a weekday night.
I ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. For me, this is usually a gamble, but this one paid off. The palak chaat was particularly good, as was the selection of four curries. Service was above average. The wine pairings were appropriate and plentiful for each course.
Unbelievably rude service checking in- we had heard great
Unbelievably rude service checking in- we had heard great things about the food but when we got here they insisted we checked in late (we did not) then blamed us for a reservation "error" that THEY made. I get it, they're really popular so they don't have to care about everyone but we will never come back and we will tell people not to come either!
What a lovely dining experience at Rasika! Very modern
What a lovely dining experience at Rasika! Very modern ambiance with also a very modern menu! The food was absolutely delicious with very scrumptious cocktails and impressive but concise wine list. The lamb was absolutely delicious! The palak chaat was literally the best thing I've had in a long time! I would highly recommend this spot! The true star of tonight was Adrian, our server. He was very patient and very attentive and made very good food and drinks recommendations.
A beautiful restaurant.
Slightly chilly but sunny day on a patio. I guess you could say, we ordered the basics: Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani and Chicken Kolhapuri. The former was flavorful, in a sense that it met expectations. The bites of chicken were a bit pink in some cuts. Lamb Biryani was on the dry side. We started with Palak Chaat and it was nice. Crispy fragile kale savory salad. The Darjeeling tea went well with this app. The Naan bread was the best! So soft and warm and almost milky-I loved it! Service was quick and sufficient.
Great food with good, helpful service.
I had the tandoori lamb with garlic naan, it was amazing. I will say for anyone not used to DC menus, the price and dish is only the meat, sometimes you get rice, but you'll definitely leave hungry if you only order an entree. It's a cute environment. We ended up eating in the private room in the basement because the patio was too cold and it was great! In a group of 8, everyone enjoyed their meal and I'll definitely be back!
Amazing food! The crispy spinach appetizer is a must.
Truffle naan, korma, bindi- all excellent. The only thing we weren't crazy about, which we typically love, was the tikka masala. It had a very strong black pepper taste. It wasn't bad, just very different from others we've had.
We made reservations for 2 adults and 2 children under 5.
Never once was a text or call made to us to say we do not accept children under 8 at this restaurant. We arrive and are given a card to go to another restaurant they own which I find extremely disrespectful. I am disappointed in the way my family was treated. We go to plenty of restaurants with our kids a lot nicer than this place. Shame on you and I hope you close! You do not deserve to have a successful restaurant in this beautiful country!
Amazing food, horrible service
The food was next level of deliciousness . The service however was horrible. The waiter (M’Hammed ) was rushing us to order and he had an attitude when politely was told to give us a couple of minutes just 5 minutes after we were seated. I had to get up and ask the host to convey to the manager and ask the waiter serving us to change his attitude. He became fake nice after that. Advice to management, please hire the right service personnel to ensure pleasant experience for your customers that are spending top dollar for one of the best Indian food establishment in the DC metro area.
Amazing food - horrible service
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was absolutely awful. We tried a lot of different dishes from the menu and they all tasted amazing. The waiter M’Hammed had an attitude and rushed us from the second we sat down. He did not explain anything to us from the menu. With the prices they charge they need to do a better job of making the whole experience unforgettable. I would think twice about dining there again because of the horrible service. We complained to the manager early on about how our waiter was rushing us after being seated and you would think they would have come and check on us during or after our meal but no one did. We read about the bad service in multiple reviews before going but we were hoping those issues had been taken care of. Sadly they have not.
Major Disappointment—Rasika on Major Decline!
Rasika West End and all of Ashook’s restaurants in the nations capital were always reliable in terms of unique and delicious food as well as ambiance and service. I have been dining at them for decades. But last evening we encountered rude staff as well as a legal violation of the ADA. I have had small medical alert service dogs for the past 50 years and have been there many times with them. But last evening when we went to claim our dinner reservation the host rudely questioned the service dogs and demanded written documentation which is a violation of federal ADA law. He insisted the DC health dept would not permit service dogs which is a violation of the law. Although it is illegal for him to ask for documentation, I provided it since I did not want to deal with an embarrassing confrontation in front of a business associate and we wanted to be seated and continue our discussion.. Then the host rudely grabbed my documentation out of my hand and took pictures of it which is totally illegal without asking me, and totally illegal anyway. He was reluctant to return it. So apparently the staff is no longer trained and feels free to discriminate against seniors with disabilities. Ashook has long been a hands on owner who made the rounds of each of his places every night. Regardless the rudeness we experienced is uncalled for. Had it not been a rainy night we would have walked somewhere else. Also the staff removed our plates before we finished dinner. We shared several dishes and were having a business conversation. The waiter then brought a check without asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. When my companion asked for coffee, he informed us they didn’t have any more. Was he in such a hurry to get home that they couldn’t make coffee and serve dessert. After complaining, he reluctantly let us order cappuccino because they were out of regular coffee. How does a top restaurant like this run out of coffee? They could have walked down the street to Starbucks to get some. Despite my decades of this and others in that restaurant group being my go to choices for both business and pleasure, never again! The ADA discrimination was blatant! An extremely disappointing experience! DC has enough excellent restaurants that no one should put up with this rudeness!
Good good, rude waiter
Delicious Indian food, the crispy spinach is a must do. Unfortunately, the waiter Raj was very rude and ruined what should have been a nice evening out.
Great Indian food
Lip smacking food. The best Indian cuisine in the city of Washington DC. The staff were absolutely courteous & very well trained for customer service. In fact I visited twice in a matter of 48 hours. First for take out & then a sit in dining experience. Both were fantastic
Absolutely delicious
Not cheap. Costs $$$. But as James Beard winner, one understands why this is worth dining at. Tasty, well seasoned, crispy air fried spinach with perfection, Tikka Masala was delightful with nothing left in serving plate, nor anything else left whether vegetarian or fish…. I would skip the egg plant dishes. Even their desert was yummy. A must try.
Outrageously expensive tasteless Indian food with rude management staff (Atul Narain is mean and rude to customers)
Worst indian restaurant in DC, way overpriced non-tasty Indian food with rude staff! Especially their Restaurant Manager Atul Narain leads the pack with rude comments and slurs hurled towards dissatisfied customers! PLEAEE AVOID going to Rasika at all costs as there are other much nicer and tastier (and more cheaper + authentic) Indian food options in DC - just search TravelAdvisor!!
Takeout Missing Items / Bad Customer Service
Ordered takeout. They forgot two items on our order and I didn't notice until I got home. When I called they offered a refund, but I said I would walk back and get the missing items. As I was walking back I realized that they had checked off the items on the receipt, but the missing items had no check marks. I showed this to them when I arrived. The woman at the door was apologetic and friendly...but the man in a suit, who I can only assume was the manager shrugged and said "sometimes these things happen." No apology and not a care in the world for the customer. Terrible customer service. He acted as if it was an inconvenience to him that I had to come back to get my order.
Our favorite restaurant in DC. A treat for Indian food.
Fantastic and creative Indian Food unlike the standard Indian fare. The dishes were great and they gave generous helpings. The Dosa and Halibut were particularly good. It would be preferable to have a few more vegan options or at least dairy free options.
Exceptional in every way
Our daughter selected this restaurant to celebrate her birthday with family. When we read the dress code requirements: no shorts for men, no athletic wear, etc., we were a little intimidated and concerned. However, when we arrived, we were greeted by a gracious host. Our waiter did an exceptional job explaining differences in dishes and making recommendations. We were all particularly impressed with the spinach appetizer. And, the halibut curry hit all the right notes with just the right amount of heat balanced with a creamy broth.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
