Saito's Japanese Steakhouse Coconut Creek Reviews from The Last Year
The high price was not worth the quality of the food we ate.
The servers were very helpful and nice.
I came to this location for the first time last year April
I came to this location for the first time last year April 2023 for my daughter's birthday and the food and experience was amazing. We visited this location last night and the experience was complete opposite. We had a party of 9, I was told days prior that reservations are not accepted but they can accommodate our party. We get there after 7pm and there was a good amount of ppl, we expected because it was Saturday night. We were told our wait was 40 mins. No biggie. We sat outside and waited. An hour passes by and we haven't been checked on. I had to go inside and check on wait time and both times they kept getting the name wrong. We finally get to go inside, Anna was our server, she rushed taking our orders, she got our order wrong and was being rude as hell from her mistakes, going as far as snatching prepared food from our table. Attitude from hell. She was so rude that we had to tell her to stay away from our table and someone else tended to us for the rest of the night. The saving grace of the night was our cook Benjamin, because of him, we decided to stay and continue with the experience, because of him, we did not ask for a manager. He didn't even want to give her name because he didn't want her to get in trouble, I had to ask another worker for her name. Apart from the rude service from our server, the food was amazing, drinks were good too. I'd beautiful inside and great photo ops. With big parties, gratuity is automatically included, Anna didn't deserve any type of tip for the service she provided to us, so she got very lucky it was included. I don't think we will come back to this location, we may try another one in the area or if we haven't too, we know to make sure we ask not be ever be seated with her.
The food was just ok.
Calamari had no flavor and the fried rice was ok. However the service was horrible. Our server Ana wasn't pleasant. The lady who brought out the appetizers was fussy when we advised we were missing one appetizer. Ana was rude to the young man on the hibachi grill for putting a bowl of extra rice in front of me. She got upset because that's not what I ordered, but didn't give anyone a chance to explain why it was placed there. She reached over me to grab the bowl of rice and walked off. Threw off the whole mood and meal. Ambiance was noisy.
This place has really gone down hill over the years,
This place has really gone down hill over the years, there's an odor in the place; quality of food and quality has dropped too. Service is still decent. We will not be returning it's not worth the rising prices.
Came for lunch time hibachi.
.. seated immediately. Served quickly and chef came out quickly too. Chef was personable. Food was good. Server took credit card and handed me the little checkout handheld device with tip screen up. I made the mistake of trusting the guy and added 20% but then took a minute to think about it. The check was too high. Went to front and didn't even say a word. Manager came out and asked what was wrong. I told her that I paid tip twice because they auto include it and it's not mentioned on the menu that rolls down from the ceiling over the hibachi tables! She adjusted it but they knew exactly what they were doing and it's shady as hell. If it weren't for the chef I would've reduced the overall tip that was included. And why the hell are they adding tip to a lunch time party of three anyway.
not here to write about the food, which was fine, but me
not here to write about the food, which was fine, but me and my boyfriend were the only ones at the hibachi table and we were splitting a meal, and we were both getting our rice portions split evenly. There was some extra rice so the chef placed the rice on my plate and said "I figured you'd eat more than him anyway" ,, for reference , I'm a bigger curvier female, and my boyfriend is very skinny. I kind of shrugged it off until my boyfriend pointed it out after the chef left. It was really, really hurtful, and it caused me not to want to even eat my food. I never mentioned to the chef I wanted to eat more, or that I was hungrier for that matter. It was out of nowhere. It hurt quite a lot and I will not be returning.
Man, this place was such a big disappointment.
The interior is pretty nice, it's modern-looking and the bathrooms were also pretty clean. The menu being a big drop down scroll thingy was also cool, but god DAAAAAMNNNN it's expensive!!!! i came to eat here with about 8 other people and the bill came out to over 700 dollars!!! you'd expect a place that's as expensive as this to taste amazing, but it was such so, so SOOO BLAND for appetizers, they gave us mushroom broth? or soup? not sure what it was exactly, but it tastes like instant soup powder, or even cup noodle broth, which was tastier than the meats. They also gave us some salad which tasted fresh-ish, and had a weird sauce on top i also liked. Anyways, the dude making our food in front of us put on a pretty awesome spectacle of making our food, but only seasoned everything with soy sauce, salt and pepper.... the fried rice was also pretty bland, i'm 100% sure they don't use any msg in their food, which is a sin in my eyes. The dude made cooked some vegetables and finally brought in the meats we ordered, being chicken, steak, lobster and shrimp. the vegetables were ok, but the carrot tasted old. the meats were.... so much worse than average. the meat was dry and flavorless, on account of them only using salt and pepper, which held true for everything else. the shrimp was rubbery, the lobster tasted freezer burnt, the chicken was the best part and even that was bland. biggest waste of money ever. the 2 ginger ales i drank were the best part of the meal.
The worst quality of filet mignon.
(Rubbery) The worst quality of shrimp The worst quality of lobster (how do mess up lobster)I will never come back to this restaurant.
The food is delicious.
Period. My friend and I return time and again. We usually order an abundance of appetizers with wine and saké. We love the chicken livers especially (delicious sauces). Also several shrimp appetizers and sushi wrapped in thinly sliced cucumber. On our last visit, several people ordered hibachi dinner. The person sitting on my left had a scallops and shrimp combined which she loved. The value: price ratio is excellent! A must try.
Saturday January 13th me and my family went to this
Saturday January 13th me and my family went to this location after enjoying a pleasant and tasty Christmas Eve dinner at the Dania Pointe location. However never again, I ordered the teriyaki shrimp and a big was just happily galavanting in my food as he handed me the plate. I handed the waiter the plate back and pointed out the bug. The waiter took the plate back and returned with drink refills. Not once did ANYONE offer me a menu or ask if I would still like the meal. My daughter ordered a sushi roll and asked for spicy mayo. The waiter returned to the table 2 different time after taking my plate away yet not once was the bug in my plate addressed or a solution discussed. I flagged down a female waitress, when she approached my table she stated " the bug flew away once they got the plate in the kitchen it's crazy". Ten minutes passed and my family had already eaten most of their food while I sat with nothing but iced tea in front of me. I got the waiter's attention while he was at another table and asked if I could get an appetizer, when it came out it was the worst calamari I had ever had in my life, it literally crumbled when squeezed. I had one piece and it tasted like I was chewing cardboard, definitely was not fresh. When I tried to let someone know I was not satisfied with this appetizer the female waitress walked over and grabbed up the plate and set down the bill. When I reviewed the bill they put 18%gratuity on the check. When I inquired why It was added (we didn't do the hibachi) I was told they served me so they charge 18 % for everyone only I wasn't properly served or satisfied with the service or food. She not only spoke over me and cut me off she said it's not her problem I didn't like anything on their menu. I was never offered a menu to review after sending back a plate with a bug in it. No one came to the table to see that I did get service after I immediately handed him a plate back with a live bug in it. No customer service at all . Very rude waitstaff. No hospitality except the few young host/hostesses in the front who greeted us and said good night.
Live & learn
We are not a picky eaters, but were all very disappointed with food. Waitress rushed us with out order. I was in the mood for sushi so I ordered the sashimi platter. To say the least, Publix has better sushi. Not fresh at all.
