I have been meaning to go to Quality Chop House for ages, given its proximity to the City and stellar reputation as one of the top restaurants in London, but for some reason I've always ended up much more frequently at the nearby Exmouth Market. I seized on the opportunity to suggest it for drinks and a quick bite after work on Friday, and found that they don't open until 6 PM, but were happy to let us come earlier and enjoy wine and some charcuterie until the kitchen was ready. That was extremely kind and helpful of them, though I can't believe they are passing on regular business with the after work crowd!We were seated in the wine bar section of the restaurant, which is mostly tables with the exception of a few high stools against the window. My friend and I shared an Albarino white wine from Spain, which was a great easy drinking wine. We ordered a charcuterie plate to share and two small plates each, which ended up being a lot of food! The menu changes daily and that day I had crab crostini and a plate of monkfish liver, both of which were amazing, but the monkfish liver was without a doubt one of the best things I have ever eaten. It had a lovely delicate texture, wasn't too rich, and was served with watercress and just utterly perfect.I'd love to come back and try more of the menu. If I could be assured of having the monkfish liver on the menu again, I'd bring my friends here and make them all try it, but in the absence of that I'm sure I can keep coming and enjoy the many other great things they have to offer.
